  1. Rofl, well i can certainly say that some of the replies have been a bit of an eye opener and this thread is now in danger of becoming another of the "slag off the kids" type of threads so lets be a bit clearer then. What about people who don`t mind kids but just don`t want them in their face ( or ears) 24/7 People who do not want to live in the city centre in a flat but further afield in a small house. People who don`t have children yet but may wish to once their career is sorted. People who work shifts and want to be able to sleep in the day in peace and quiet, and one of the most important reasons as far as i`m concerned, the people who have either lost a child or been told they cannot bear any and are upset when they cannot escape and live life without having it rammed down their throats evry minute. Not everyone is 'opposed' to children but some have good reasons for not wanting to do the child thing constantly, especially when they don`t have any.
  2. If a new estate was built in Sheffield and the only people allowed to buy a property on it were people without kids would you jump at the chance? Of course there would be people who would have to sell up and move on should they decide to start a family but there would also be people who would never have any intention of starting a family too so it may seem like their ideal place to live. After reading all about the disturbances caused in some areas would this be a solution for people who just want peace and quiet?
  3. This is also something i`m looking at having done maybe next year, a door bricked up to become an window and a window becoming a door, i have lots of plumbing to sort out first though Thanks for the replies, it`s made me think a bit more about the patio doors. Hope you find someone good to do your work Muran, let us know how you get on.
  4. On a slightly related note does anyone know whats involved (or if it`s possible) to replace a bay window with patio doors and still retain the sticky outy bit (due to bay above)?
  5. Shame it dosen`t mention Sheffield for the extra money though They`ve been missing from our area for a while but yesterday they were back on the roads and the pavements all around the Birley/ Frecheville area.
  6. wow! sorry to hear about your dog, thats absolutely awful my heart goes out to you. I had no idea about the potatoes at all but really she seems fine with them, she has one meal a day and they`re mashed with chicken and it`s her fav meal she has the porridge and dried food too. She`s eaten the spuds for months and never had a problem, perhaps she`s just not prone to bloat or as it`s not a large meal it dosen`t bother her as she`s not an overeater she eats small meals and is very picky. Originally i fed her rice or pasta with it but no matter how i mixed it up and shredded it she would not eat the rice/pasta and if she couldn`t pick the chicken out she wouldn`t eat at all. She`s a very picky dog and with her medical condition she`s under a very close eye all the time.
  7. He should be given a taste of his own medicine!! and thats the very very toned down answer, my blood is boiling
  8. I would definitely get your doggy checked out at the vet, my last dog did this and it turned out to be a hormonal imbalance, easily treated with drops, my present dog started doing it and i assumed it was the same (both bitches who had been spayed) how wrong i was, the vet tried the drops first and when they didn`t work did some blood tests, it turned out she has liver problems. She had 3 courses of tablets and has a completely different diet and now she`s fine. I just keep an extra close eye on her now.
  9. My monster can`t get on with dog food most of the time, she can have a little bit but not often as she has health problems. She has porridge once a day (has to be made with goats milk and water with a small amount of honey or she spits it out), mashed potatoes and chicken and some dried food. Try the mashed spuds when he`s ill but replace the chicken with something else like a small amount of tuna. Hope he`s ok !
  10. I`ve not been to Newquay since i was very small and i`ve got nothing but wonderful memories of it. I go in a few weeks and i`ve been really looking forward to it - until i read all this I suppose forewarned is forearmed, i`ll reserve full judgement until i`ve been, i`ve not managed to get a holiday for years so i`ve been mooning round like a big kid with a daft grin on my face, i can`t wait!
  11. i`ve never tried the raspberry ones which is weird as i buy frozen raspberries, i love em, i think i`ll try one when i get my next shop
  12. Crikey! and i thought it was just me that had the longley farm cravings I think the cottage cheese with chives is the best ever and i don`t buy any other brand, as for the hazlenut yogurts i could eat a whole tray ful in one go they`re soooooooo thick and creamy and scrummy !!!! *goes to look in purse to see if there`s anything to spend in Morrisons*
