  1. Hey, I know this is 6 years late! But hopefully will help anyone who comes across this thread like I did (googled 'free antiques valuations'). I've started using a site called http://www.antiquevault.co.uk where you email in a couple of photos and they email back a valuation for free in about a week. Hope this helps
  2. Ha, good question! I think it's an awkward thing for a lot of Brits if it's not an obvious tipping-kind-of-place (if that makes sense!) whereas in somewhere like the US it's just teh done thing. Not too sure in what way you can make people start tipping though, I generally think if it's a sit down meal in a restaraunt (not a pub lunch) then I'll tip. Unless the waiter/waitress is particularly unpleasant then the type of service doesn't make a massive different to the amount
  3. Good signage? Possibly think of some marketing campaign in the local area that will get you noticed? Hold a free evening class in the local community hall about how to apply face-packs and that sort of thing and how to best use all your products. Then offer them discounted at the end of the evening. Set up a facebook or twitter page with quirky campaings or offers that make people interact with you and enjoy your brand (Google something like 'good small companies on facebook' to get lots of examples of what some potential things you could be doing in this sector are).
  4. I can't imagine they would retract their initial job offer if the interview for the other job goes well? Is the other job one you would prefer to have or have more prospects? They might view you as unambitious if you don't go for it without a valid reason. I say, keep in mind they offered you this opportunity - so they obviously think you have the potential to succeed in it! Be confident in yourself, and remember, you don't get many great opportunities handed to you in life, so take advantage when you do and go fot it. Good luck!
  5. Not too sure why anyone would sign someone else up? As long as you ensure opt-outs work shouldn't be a problem as every company gets these kind of complaints I'm sure, they'd have to be pretty silly to sign themselves up specifically to a newsletter they didn't want!
  6. I think so, you have to really try and keep your work and social life separate - unfortunately social networking makes this harder - you should activate all the privacy settings on your facebook account so only friends can see them. This should stop your employers coming across them?
