  1. Please could you give me more information about this?
  2. Does anyone have any crutches I could use for a week? I had an operation on my foot but am really struggling to just get to the toilet etc. I am aware I can buy them, but they are not cheap (I can't really afford them) and I should only need them for a week? I have looked around and can't find anywhere I can hire some (I thought this may be cheaper). The hospital gave me a phone number for equipment and loans but they are not open at the weekend.
  3. I once had an incident where someone crashed into me and got his details. Unfortunately my insurance company told me that he wasn't insured, so they could not claim from an insurance company. I then tried reporting him to the police, and was told it was too late and I had to report someone driving without insurance within 24 hours. This was some years ago when there was no way it could be found out that quick. As you mention your insurance company are having trouble contacting the person, maybe you should check about the 24 hour limit in case he's not insured. If you are unable to claim from the other person's insurance and you don't have fully comp on yours, then there is a way of claiming from uninsured/untraceable drivers see http://www.mib.org.uk/Home/en/default.htm have also noticed on this site there is a link to check if a vehicle is insured. At the time I couldn't claim from them as it had to be above a certain amount. I hope you have better luck.
  4. I'm looking for a venue suitable for a toddler's party. I would like a venue with enough room inside to have a bouncy castle and also easy access to a grass fenced off area, so that if the weather is nice, the bouncy castle can be outside. Does anyone know of anywhere in Sheffield that may be suitable?
  5. It would be good if they could just get order correct. Quite regularly at various Mcdonalds, I order food and ask for it without mayonnaise etc, despite it saying this on the receipt and on the sticker on the food packing, most of the time it's wrong.
  6. If it's what I'm thinking of it's called French skipping.
  7. I had a problem with this as I didn't have an up to date valid passport. I had to order a full birth certificate as my original one was not acceptable. I had to use my driving licence, NI number, full birth certificate as well as professional registration information. What really confuses me is why they would not accept my original birth certificate and only accept a full birth certificate (it was stated it has to be the full one showing my parents information). In the year I was born, the nationality of my parents would not make a difference to anything, they could have been any nationality and I would be entitled to be a UK citizen. So the information on the full certificate giving my parents information, would not make any difference to my entitlement to be a British citizen or being allowed to legally work in the UK. I could understand if the rule for this was applied to birth certificates after the date that automatic nationality changed. I can understand the need to ensure employees are entitled to work but the above example that happened to me, I feel does not make sense. Can anyone make sense of my particular situation and explain this to me?
  8. Does anyone know of any groups that run at weekends? I am looking for something with singing or like Tumble tots for a 17 month old. Everything I have found so far is only during the week, which I cannot do.
  9. Well done for telling this man. He sounds like he needs more people like you to tell him. What I find most worrying about this, is the fact that he let his dog do this near where children play. What a lot of people don't know is that dog poo may contain a toxic which can make humans blind. I'm sure I don't need to explain why children are more susceptible to coming into contact with dog poo. The information regarding this is below and the link is http://www.ask.com/wiki/Toxocara_canis?o=2802&qsrc=999 Humans can be infected by this roundworm, a condition called toxocarosis, just by stroking an infected dog's fur. In humans, this parasite usually grows in the back of the eye, which can result in blindness, or in the liver or lungs.[7] However, a 2004 study showed, of 15 infected dogs, only seven had eggs in their coats, and no more than one egg was found on each dog. Furthermore, only 4% of those eggs were infectious.[8] Given the low concentration of fertile eggs on infected dogs' coats (less than 0.00186% per gram), it is plausible that such eggs were transferred to the dog's coat by contact with fecal deposites in the environment, making dog coats the passive transport hosts.[8] The risk of being infected by petting a dog is extremely limited and, since a single infected puppy can produce more than 100,000 roundworm eggs per gram of feces,[9] humans are much more likely to be infected by contact with feces than contact with fur. As such, little reason exists for humans to fear infection, as long as basic hygiene, such as hand-washing, is followed.
  10. My little girl loves eating pieces of melon and cucumber sticks. I will only take her to food places, that do good healthy food. Maybe doing things from adult menu in smaller portion sizes. My little girl also likes sandwiches (cheese, meat etc that are good quality). When the weather does get colder then soups would be good. I think having tap water or full fat milk would be good to offer. It might be worth looking at the food choices that baby food manufacturers offer as I get ideas from them on what to give my daughter.
  11. Maybe all the car parking spaces should be wider, then everyone would manage, however this would then reduce the number of parking spaces and wouldn't be fair on the individuals who don't abuse the parent and child or disabled parking bays. For the person who suggests that the parent and child shouldn't be nearest the entrances, although it would help discourage lazy people abusing these spaces, at the same time, why should parents be forced to park so far away just because there are too many selfish people. I also have a suggestion for the people saying they need extra wide spaces who don't have a child. When I can't find a parent and child space, I try to find a space on the end of a row, so that the side I need to open my door wide enough to get my baby out without twisting and damaging my back, is where another vehicle can't park. I also drive in forwards, so I can get my pushchair out of my boot. I might have to park farther away from the entrances. I don't see why some of the people saying they need extra space can't do this. Another option they have, is if they are not the driver, then they can simply park in normal space but just get out before the driver pulls into the parking space. When I see people parking in parent and child spaces when I feel they don't need this, I do nicely ask them if they genuinely need the space. The most pathetic answer I've had is; they need the wider space so they can open their door to get their shopping in. I have also observed some elderly people parking there but I didn't say anything to them as all the disabled spaces were full and I appreciate they may need this space and if ther was only one space left, I would rather then use this than me. I could park further away on the end and manage but they may not be able to do this. (this wasn't at Meadowhall). I think if everyone was more considerate then things would be a lot better.
  12. I wasn't saying they should use a disabled spot, I was trying to point out how they seem to have a problem with parents using parent and child spaces.
  13. I find it interesting that you are saying that you need the extra space to open your door which is due to a physical disability, but choose to park in a parent and child space but don't say anything about parking in a disabled bay. Why can't you get out of the car before the driver pulls into a space? I do think that from your comments you seem to have a problem with parents and children using the spaces that are designed for them. Why do you feel that parents are saying that they are above everyone else when they are only using what has been provided for them to use and say something to selfish, jealous people who like to use the spaces wrongly. This post was started by someone who was just asking for advice, but yet all people who seem to have a problem with parent and child spaces come on trying to upset others. All those people who are like this, you really should try to resolve your problems as you would have a happier life, or maybe you enjoy being like this and get pleasure out of trying to upset people.
  14. Maybe it's worth ringing the police and asking what would happen to the information if you reported........ then you would know for certain.
  15. I have found that the easiest time to find a parent and child parking space has been by going first thing, although this is not always possible with a young baby. Don't know if you already know the following information but if you are breastfeeding I have found Mothercare has a really good room for this. There are really nice comfortable nursing chairs and a water machine. They also have a good baby changing room. Where the main toilets are around Meadowhall, there are baby changing rooms that also have a toilet you can get a pram in (some can be quite a struggle manoeuvring the pram in and closing the door). Hope you get on ok. Also might be worth taking a spare change of clothes. I remember my first time at Meadowhall and my baby did a large nappy that leaked all over her clothes.
