  1. Hello, just to let you know that the 1965 film about the Dial House Club "A Working Men's Club in Sheffield" will be screening once more at the Showroom on Sunday, 3 NOvember at 3pm. This time the director Peter Nestler, who was unable to come last year, will be there for a Q & A. This is his first time since 1965 that he is backk in Sheffield. He might find it quite changed! http://www.showroomworkstation.org.uk/peternestler
  2. Hello, just to let you know that we are once more screening A Working Men's Club in Sheffield (1965) about the Dial House Club. The screening takes place at the Sheffield Showroom on Sunday, 3 November at 3pm. This time the director Peter Nestler will be there for a Q & A after the film.
  3. Many thanks for the good wishes for the screening. We'll drive up from London to delliver the film prints and to see how it all goes. A friend told a friend whose mother is in the film. I wonder whether there will be more people like that.
  4. Hello, I will look out for you in the film.... Come along to the screening. It would be great to have some people there who actually attended the club. Peter Nestler unfortunately had to cancel his visit to UK due to unforeseen circumstances. Hopefully, he will be able to come in 2013 and we can screen the film again with him there.
  5. No, you don't have to. It's open to everyone, but of course it would be of special interest to people who belong to working men's clubs.
  6. The film is shown on Sunday, 11 November, at 3.30pm. I can't post the link but it is on the Showroom Website when you click on the calendar and on the date. If you miss this, it is included a a BFI compilation called Roll Out the Barrel.
  7. I saw your posts by accident. We are showing a film about the Dial House Club which shows a shot of its facade with the sun dial at the Showroom in Sheffield, on Sunday, 11 November 2012, at 3.30pm. The film is called A Workng Men's Club in Sheffield" and is mostly filmed inside the club. So I don't know whether that is enough to evoke some memories.
  8. A Working Men's Club in Sheffield (Ein Arbeiterclub in Sheffield), by Peter Nestler, filmed in 1965 at the Dial House working men's club. A 40-minute docuementary about the club and working class life in Sheffield.
  9. I am involved in showing a documentary filmed at the Dial House Club in 1965 by the German filmmaker Peter Nestler and 2 other people. They were in Sheffield for a few weeks and went to the club for a while before starting to film. We are now showing the film at the Sheffield Showroom on 11 November and the filmmaker will be there and I am sure he would be very pleased to meet some of the people who were there at that time.
  10. I have come across your posts when doing some research on the internet about Sheffield working men’s clubs. The film will be shown at the Showrrom on 11 November 2012 at 3.30pm with the filmmaker Peter Nestler in attendance. It will be shown as “A Working Men’s Club in Sheffield”, which is the direct translation of the German title “Ein Arbeiterclub in Sheffield”, which is the title Peter Nestler intended for the film. “Menschen in Sheffield” is the title the commissioning TV station gave the film without consulting the filmmaker. It was nice to see that some people in Sheffield have already heard about the film and that there 2 articles in the Star about it, one more about the film, the other one focusing more on the Dial House Club. The film will also be shown in London on 9 November at 7pm. I see that the posts are quite old but hopefully you see this and can come. The film will be subtitled in English. I am new to this forum and can't include any links.
