  1. What about cyclists who also drive. Do they get a discount for not using up there full quota of road usage because they have cycled and not driven?
  2. Your entitled to your opinion. Even when you are wrong but don't worry about it. I'll smile just to make your day. ?
  3. Explain to me why that's tosh. I cycle and drive and have 1st experience of this. Do you cycle.
  4. Got back from Amsterdam last weekend. You drivers would have kittens if you lived there. Hoewever cyclist and drivers have total respect for one another, both going about the daily activities in a harmonies way. In fact cyclist get priority over car drivers. For a pedestrian trying to cross the road its like playing real life frogger. The poisonous cyclist v motorist debate is a UK problem. Cyclist have a right to use the roads and in most places pavements have dual capacity for pedestrians. If most drivers respected cyclist and drove with due care and attention cyclist would be more inclined to use roads and not have to resort to pavements for their own safety.
  5. Irrelevant answer. You do not need insurance or road tax so that response has no justification. Otherwise you could argue for needing insurance to cross the road. Or require insurance to push a shopping trolley past a car. Or pushing a pram.
  6. You seem to think that people on bikes can't defend themselves. You would be in for a rude awakening my friend
  7. You cant be too concerned if your only thought is missing your bus home!! If that serious your journey home would be the last thing on your mind
  8. Unfortunately in the real world wages don't cover expenses for most people. As a result people have to work over and above their normal working ours. Nobody wants to work extra hours. Me included. But unfortunately needs dictate. As with all public services and private services, inflation has far exceeded wage rises.
  9. Is it wrong for firefighters to earn extra money. Their money isn't fantastic. They are doing overtime in order to make ends meet and support families. Just like nurses, doctors, police etc. plus they have to pay higher tax rate as a second income. What's the problem?
  10. Total ignorance on here about why firefighters are striking. I for one fully support them regardless of potential consequences. Their reasons are just and valid. One questions. Do those who object or make fun pay for their own pension. I'm sure those that do and who have massive changes to payments into and expected returns out would empathies and do the same should the same happen to them.
  11. Every hospital operates an open visiting policy now. U can visit from 10am till 8pm Wards however wish u to respect meal times and 1 till 2 rest hour. U can visit during meal times if u are helping to feed a relative.
  12. I had exactly the same problem when I picked my wife up from collegiate crescent just off ecclesal road. She had phoned me to say she was leaving the building. I pulled up just as she was crossing the road to get in the car when a car pulled up to tell me I could not park. I informed them that I was not parking but stopping to allow someone to access my vehicle. I did tell them that double yellow means no parking and does not apply no stopping which I had done. I was not parked. My wife had accessed the car by this stage but they continued to tell me that I had to park in an appropriate place before my wife could access the car for which I had to tell them she was now sat by my side in the passenger seat and then pointed out to them that they were parked in the middle of the road blocking access which was not allowed. That did not go down too well with them. As a result I reversed out of the road before continuing on my merry way leaving the Numpties in the middle of the road. As far as I am concerned they lack common sense
  13. Just want to clarify a few things. As a coronary care nurse I deal with this type of thing every day. AED are not dangerous and are life savers. They have been designed so a member of the public can use them without prior training. They talk u into placing of the defib pads. They analyse the rhythm for your and tell u if a shock is required. If it is it will charge for u. U cannot charge yourself. It will only allow charging and discharge the shock ifthe pads are correctly placed so You cannot harm yourself. Whilst bls is advocated for and in my opinion should be taught mandatory from school age upwards, during an arrhythmia the only treatment is a shock to reverse the cause. The earlier the defibrillation the more successful survival. What u need to remember is that a person is already dead so you can't cause them and more harm. With regards to a heart attack it will not stop it. They need hospital care to sort that out. But what a AED will allow for is early recognition in deteriation of a patient in terms of a rhythm change and need for defibrillation. AED's are life savers ---------- Post added 30-10-2014 at 10:53 ---------- During an acute MI our patients will always be attatched to a defib because of the high probability that defibrillation will be required
  14. Let me clarify a few things. I was the one who started the post and I am a resident of Catcliffe. First of all the event did not cause the residents any bother at all. In fact when I went to get petrol I was more than tempted to stay and look myself. However I had to take the wife to work. It was only a small minority who were numptys. As I was driving upto the round about to go along Europa link there was a corsa dolled up right up my arse revving his engine trying to intimidate. Which did not not bother me to be honest but I'm sure others it may. The event looked really good and unless it becomes a nuisance to local residents I'm fine with it
  15. Like I said in my original post I don't mind apart from making the roads dangerous when there racing up and down them. I would have have enjoyed it when I was young
