ZX Spectrum (Xbox of the 80s) vs Commodore 64 (Playstation of the 80s).

I preferred the Spectrum, even though the C64 games had less colour clash.

And the Sega GameGear being a better handheld than the Nintendo GameBoy, you could even watch TV on a GameGear with a special adaptor.

SNES versus Megadrive... IMO the SNES had better games, such as Super Tennis, and a better version of Street Fighter 2 Turbo.

you're wrong about street fighter the snes one was cut no blood or vomit and the md one came on a 16 meg cart :o and had a proper dpad and 6 button layout.

Galaga v. Space InvadersGalaga: colour, more patterns and unpredictability (relative to S.I.), harder. No 'rote' gameplay like S.I. offerred, if you get what I mean.
Virtua Cop v. Time CrisisTC: so much more immersive (duck gameplay, arcade recoil), faster gameplay, more enemy/situation variety, better-looking (for an early 3D effort).

SR is much better for the driving experience/gameplay, but Daytona is much better for the visual experience (graphics, speed, audio).

Time crisis is on ps3 also hotd 3-4 & the newish one. All use move as a light gun.

Sorry I can't agree with your analogy. The ZX Spectrum was a less capable machine yet sold on the strength of it's software. The Commodore was much more capable, had a very good software base but the base wasn't as big as the Spectrum's.

The Xbox was so much more capable than the Playstation (1 & 2) but the software base wasn't there, so I believe it's the other way round. The ZX Spectrum was Playstation of the 80's and the Commodore 84 was the XBox. Although it was much close then.
