anyone know what it was? in the last five minutes, about a minutes worth of "bang, bang bang, bang bang bang" followed by car alarms going off.

Rather unnerving!

Probably just some fools with fireworks.

Rather unnerving!Wouldn't be the 1st time gunshots have been heard around there (real uns though) There is a lot of building work going off, maybe it's something to do with that.

I dont know I hope it wasnt anything serious, Sheffield seems to have become infested with gun crime in the past few years, I hope this ends soon

Let me clear things up for you.

This City is Sheffield

They were more than likely guns.

i know its a long distance away, but some Tw*ts were letting off some rather loud airbombs/fireworks on the shirecliffe hill around this time, it startled me as even i know that bonfire night is a long way to go yet, even in my state!! (moonmans at home with food poisoning  ), my first thought was gunshouts but after the 50th one i just assumed fireworks were the guilty culptprit.

I don't see why people need to be setting them off at this time of year. What really surprises me is when you hear them in the daytime. :/

hmm, Upperthorpe hasn't had any (reported) guncrime since that woman was shot at the bottom of Burgoyne road. As for unreported gun crime, there's plenty of that. I've had a gun pointed at me in the last couple of months. I guess it's just what happens in "urban" areas.

I also had a gun pointed at me by three men wearing balaclavas in Leeds. I never reported it, just ran as fast as I could in the opposite direction. Guns seem to be getting more and more prevalent and Im sure if police started to carry them they would certainley be common place for every criminal.

Nothing surprises me about Upperthorpe.

My mate dave heard his car alarm going off, and a screech of a car speeding away, ran outside and found someone had pumped a bullet into his car. Pitsmoor ghetto life eh?

well, the local gangster wannabes like flashing their "pieces" around. It makes me laugh because I used to go to little school with them and they all know me mum.

Michael Moore once let off a shotgun at 4am in a house in suburbia USA as an experiment to see if anyone would react and no one did.

So did I Sally. The middle school was knocked down a couple of years ago and new flats/houses have just been built. The lower school is still standing but looks a mess as all the windows are smashed.
