For holidays we would very much like to swap our flat here in Hannover/Germany for a flat/house in Sheffield for the period of either 29 April to 7 May, or 5-20 August, or (any) two weeks in November.
About our city: Hannover is the capital of Lower Saxony, and it is about the same size as Sheffield. We've got Germany's best "adventure zoo", which is absolutely worth a visit. We've got a decent night life, clubs for every taste: from trendy to alternative to whatever you like. And our clubs do not close at 2 a.m. but you can party into the early hours. :-) We've got a decent cultural life: musicals, theatres, museums and the like. My hubby insists on putting this in: our football team "Hannover 96" is playing in the first division, and if you like football visiting one of their matches is definitely worth a visit, because their fans are top-class in terms of creative and enthusiastic support during the matches.
Also, we've got a red light district, which certainly does not appeal to YOU. ;-)
It takes you one-and-a-half hours to get to Hamburg and three hours to get to Berlin (by car). We've got an airport, and you can get cheap flights from Manchester to Hannover. (Next week I'm flying return for 68 Euros, that is 45 Pounds!)
The part of town we are living in is a student area, with loads of little cafes and pubs and shops. There are also a lot of young families living here, and we've got loads of playgrounds. Our flat is on the second floor of a four-storey, typically European, old building (built in the 1890s, but of course modernized). It is situated in a quiet side street. A medium sized park is a three minutes walk away, and a big park is an eight minutes walk away. Also, the city centre is just a fifteen minutes walk away. The standard of our flat I would call student-ish, simple but very comfy. And of course we've got everything here you'll need: washing mashine, dishwasher, telly etc.... The flat comprises of an entrance room, a kitchen, a bathroom with shower, a living room, bedroom 1 with two seperate beds, and bedroom 2 (our daughter's room) with a bunk bed and a matress beneath it, and tons of toys. So all in all 4 persons can be accommodated.
What we require is not much: just a flat or house with three beds in it (or two if there's a double bed), for my hubby, our daughter, and me. Any area of Sheffield (or near Sheffield) is okay.
So, get in touch if you want to get to know Germany...
