Does anyone remember Oxspring's Manor on Herries Road South.

I think a brewery took over the land and I do not know if the House still exists.

At the back of the walled property was an apple orchard.

Every year we borrowed a plank from the railway repair hut placed it off the railway embankment onto the top of the wall and the apples were ours.

I cannot tell you why we did scromp those apples because they were always very sour and each year we would get belly ache from eating them.

Yet year on year, we still went back for more.
