I have a macro card but haven't been for a while,as we were driving passed i thought we might pop in for a look round. But cause i haven't used my card for a while it had been cancelled so they gave us a day pass, after looking round for an hour we decided to leave as i don't think its any cheaper than normal every day stores what does any one else think?

I don't think it ever was cheaper than ordinary shops - especially when you bear in mind that their prices are usually quoted excluding VAT!

We go there for things like washing powder etc, and we also get packs of 45 rolls of Charmin loo rolls for £3! Not bad is it.

My mom goes for crates of 500ml bottles of coke, apparently they're much cheaper to buy in bulk from there :)

For everyday things though it's probably same as supermarkets once VAT is added.

Can anyone use Makro or do you need to be a business?

I buy cat food in bulk from there as it is can be upto 10p a can cheaper after including VAT.

The problem I found when buying in bulk is that you eat/drink more because there are more of it so I stopped buying anything in bulk from there.

I think you can have a macro card without having a business. If you have a problem, try getting your company getting the workforce cards as this is OK. I know because I got my frist card this way.

I thought you had to be a business or self-employed to get one. That's how I got mine, my dad got one through his company and put me and my sister down under his name, and we were sent our own cards :)

Just pretend you are self-empoyed and make a business name up like I did. My wife has also got a card from work.

I don't think the place is any cheaper than your standard shop or supermarket.

I have had a Makro card for years and it isn't cheaper and never was, it is for business people who pass on the high prices to their customers.

It IS cheaper if you're buying stuff like sweets cos the mark up is 100%.

I.e. a box of jelly's which you sell for 1p each cost £2.99. However when you sell them all for 2p each the box has sold for just over £6.

It's like any shop, you get your bargins, but I don't think Makro is anything special.

Makro in Sheffield has been there for eons, we started going there about twenty years ago and then you could bring home a real bargain as a lot of the stuff was imported from the states.
I've still got a winter coat made by JEEP that must be 15 years
old and still looks good, I think I paid about 20 quid for it.
These days it's naff, I was in this week with my brother in law, after a quick browse round and the obligatotry tray of lager in the trolley we were off.
