We did have a caravan but recently we sold it as we weren't using it as much as we would have liked to. Our intention was to get a campervan, but we have plumped for a conway cruiser folding caravan, from the early 90's. haven't gone away in it just yet, cos I need to get some curtains in it and bed liners but are hoping to go away in it soon. Anyone else got a folding camper and what do you think of it???

bit off topic but we went from tent to trailer tent to motorhome, found the trailer tent too long and hard to put up especially if just a weekend away, while we have been away this weeknd we saw a few 'camplets' being towed on the roads, so when we got back i googled them to see what they were and they look great, its a trailer tent with all the tent section attached to main sleeping bit and poles already in, u just pull tent over and peg it. if we had seen them whilst we had trailertent that might have been our next option before moving up to motorhome. do like the motorhome though, but love noseying at what everyone else has, hope u enjoy your time with your folding caravan : )

Thanks Kimismum. We had a trailer tent, when we upgraded from our tent and before we got our first caravan and I absolutely hated the trailer tent. Couldn't wait to get rid of it as it was so cold and draughty!! This one we have seems so much better just pull some handles each side and whoosh it's up and ready to be sorted inside. With the trailer tent it used to take us nearly half an hour getting it all up and pegged down - no pegging with the conway cruiser :). We were going to get a campervan but can't really afford the extra mot and insurance etc. as well as having our car (which is such a good car we don't really want to get rid) Here's a pic of the Conway

Got some material coming so I can make curtains for it, then we can go away in it somewhere.

wow! looks lovely inside, half an hour to set trailer tent up?? u did good took us about 2 hours and a few arguments lol, the canvas was so heavy to manourve about, drafty as well. we had a very windy night in ours ended up putting all our belongs plus coolbox water bottles chairs practically everything round the edges as was scared it would take flight, and the beds rocked all night. quite funny now looking back on it but at the time i could have set the dam thing on fire. think we used it all in all about 3 times and re sold it. the joys of camping, we love it really

Wow nightmare, Kimismum, we only ever used ours once then put it straight on ebay lol never regretted getting rid of the trailer tent -horrible draughty things. We have been assured that these folding campers are a lot warmer. So can't wait to go away in it.
