View Full Version : Leylandia hedges Sam Miguel 17-04-2004, 20:46 I reckon that the leylandia hedge industry is a big growth area. What do you reckon? t020 17-04-2004, 23:02 Yes - a bit like the Sheffield Forum database size due to pointless threads like this! Jamie 17-04-2004, 23:11 yeah t020 ... but the database size is an abstraction layer above actual reality ... in reality ... the storage is there anyway ... all you are doing is changing the state of 'bits' from 0 to 1 etc ... so u see ... the database size ... is just an unreal abstraction ... u know it makes sense ;-) Skatiechik 17-04-2004, 23:13 Originally posted by Sam Miguel I reckon that trhe leylandia hedge industry is a big growth area. What you reckon? your a nutter, but you made me laugh :D t020 17-04-2004, 23:25 Originally posted by Jamie yeah t020 ... but the database size is an abstraction layer above actual reality ... in reality ... the storage is there anyway ... all you are doing is changing the state of 'bits' from 0 to 1 etc ... so u see ... the database size ... is just an unreal abstraction ... u know it makes sense ;-) But surely Geoff has to pay more money as the size grows? Jamie 17-04-2004, 23:35 Originally posted by t020 But surely Geoff has to pay more money as the size grows? I just *knew* you'd say that t020 !!! :-) Soooo ... you only have Geoff's best interests at heart huh !? ... I guess if the database size goes over the allocated server space then yeah ... that's possible. By responding to this post t020 ... you will be increasing the likelyhood of that possibility ... and therefore negating your argument re: your concern for geoff's financial health. So wot do you say to that eh t020 !? t020 17-04-2004, 23:36 As little as possible (for Geoffs sake). :D Sidla 18-04-2004, 01:36 The size of 1 topic is negligable when compared to the entire database. tango2 18-04-2004, 09:12 Well I think its ok for people to have a sense of humour, better than banging on about same old trash all the time. "oh know I dont know what pub to go in,please help" Get a life its nice, you may even like it. Or maybe sense of humour does not extend to this forum, this would explain why some peoples threads only relate to a limited amount of subjects. Killian 18-04-2004, 10:52 Originally posted by tango2 Or maybe sense of humour does not extend to this forum, this would explain why some peoples threads only relate to a limited amount of subjects. according to the same person, the forum has been dumbed down by people attemting to have a sense of humour. i can imagine the t020 'strictly political & entirely sensible' forum having a massive database. incidentally, don't like leylandii. grow too quickly and block out the light. is that sensible enough? Sam Miguel 18-04-2004, 11:15 Actually, leylandia hedges are a very, very big topic, T020: they are a nuisance and thrive in the posher suburbs of this fine city. They are pretentious trees designed for pretentious people who strive to live beyond their means and ignore the contents of their fridge in favour of owning a BMW or some shiny brand-new 4x4 Jujitsu that looks just right in Aldi's carpark. Oh yes. These people struggle to pay off the interest on their credit-card bills each month and in-between contemplate getting someone in to trim their ever growing leylandia hedges that soooo annoy the truly wealthy old Mrs Brown over the back. But it never happens. And these people don't possess the greatest gift that life can give apart from life itself: a sense of humour. In reality these people are pathetically poor in real terms and such as I can tower above them, and their leylandia hedges, and mock and throw satirical ridicicule at their lack of lifestyle, which they don't even know they don't have. Know what I mean? Pointless this thread: isn't it? t020 18-04-2004, 11:44 Leylandia hedges are good for keeping a garden nice and private and defining its borders. So long as they don't go above about 10ft then they are fine. Incidentally, for those who are, shall we say, not the sharpest knives in the drawer, I was actually joking about the database size issue. I would've thought that was pretty obvious but I guess some people need it spelling out. Jamie 18-04-2004, 13:28 I would just like to point out that I was joking too ... re: the database size !! I did however forgot to include my 'warning: this post contains humor' note to clarify this ... my most sincere appologies for this omission. Jamie 18-04-2004, 13:30 Please note: my previous post on this thread contains sarcasm. Sidla 18-04-2004, 13:53 I was being deadly serious about the database. Sam Miguel 18-04-2004, 15:39 May I apologise for my previous post, too. It was witty (well, it made me smile), humorous, sarcastic and I really must take life more seriously. It was also the truth. Thanks, T020 - it's nice to know that you do agree for once - I take it that this must be right, as you have not challenged my attitude. My failure is that it just cheers me up to play around with the twenty-six letters of the alphabet and a make them say things for my own self-amusement. Childish, I know, but it keeps me out of mischief. |
