Does anyone know if the train strikes are still going ahead 15th & 17th May? If so then has anyone got any suggestions for alternative transport for Sheffield to Skegness? I've looked at today's alternatives as an example and it really is horrendous - train to Nottingham, over two hours to Boston by bus then well over another hour to Skeg from there on another bus, which if missed, there is nearly 2 hours to wait for another one. National Express coaches only run Mondays and Fridays. I can't see any other options and I'm fed up with it all. It is only meant to be a short break to replace a holiday I had to cancel last month:mad:

Northern Rail run trains to Lincoln, whence buses run hourly to Skegness. It's a minimum of three hours' travel on that route, though, and probably nearer to four.

thanks for the info. Sheffield to Lincoln by train doesn't look too bad but I can't find a direct bus to Skeg from there, only a bus service that changes at Horncastle making the bus journey almost two hours on top of the train! Thanks tho, I appreciate the suggestion. I reckon I am either going to have to cancel my trip, or change my travel dates tickets and reservations or chance it and wait to see if the strikes get cancelled!

You're not going to loose any money if they strike are you? if so you should claim it back from the union.

That bus to Horncastle is in fact a through bus to Skegness, but it changes service number at Horncastle. You don't have to change, just sit and wait on it for a while.

It's still not a good option, but it might be the least bad option available to you if the trains are striking.
