I think its disgusting that ive now learnt that all these dysons that are being sold off sheffield forum dont last 2 minutes.I wish people could just be honest about whats wrong with the dysons. Unfortunatly theres too many people that are being sucked in by them.
If its not working scrap it!!
So im now weary of buying dysons now unless its a trade shop or brand new
have any others had thsi problem??

For reconditioned Dyson cleaners, you could try Electrofarm: http://www.theelectrofarm.com/

anybody who buys a dyson has made their own bed :P

Get a Sebo - FAR more reliable (mine's about 15 years old now)

Dysons get a bad press because people don't bother cleaning the filters. You need to do this every 3 months or so. If you don't bother, it stops picking up altogether. At that point some people bin them (or maybe they sell them on).

You should be wary about buying Dysons anyway as they are absolutely garbage!!!!!!!! Thats from a consumer point of view and from that of an domestic repair engineer which my father is. They are very unreliable! When dyson came on the market consumers got sucked in by the 'bagless' technology and had the marketing gimick of how easier and less messy life is without a hoover bag! Gullible consumers. However not suprising, anything for an easier life right? Wrong! Dysons are a pain in the butt!
The best one in my opinion out there is a 'SEBO'. Bagged hoover but very powerful and reliable. It picks up more rubbish than anyother hoover ive ever tried! My whole family has one.

I bought a Dyson a few years ago, it was back at the factory twice in 6 months. When it went faulty a third time I got rid of it. Cheap plastic casing, expensive parts. When he became successful Dyson sacked his staff and took production overseas for cheap labour. To me he's a traitor.
I bought an Oreck and never looked back.

dyson moved his manufacturing base to malaysia so what do you expect when you buy something built for about 20 pence an hour :hihi:

Not sure what this thread is doing on the Sheffield Discussions site but here are my comments about Dyson.
Many years ago I bought a Dyson DC01 which lasted until last December. Having been happy with a Dyson for for many years I had no hesitation in buying another Dyson to replace it, what a mistake it had a very loud and very annoying high pitched whistle. I called Dyson customer service with my problems and they were very good sending out a replacement part which they said would solve the problem. When that did not work they sent out an engineer who did what he had been told to do by his supervisor but told me he thought it would not solve the the problem and it did not. He then recommended I took it back to where I had bought and ask for a refund. Before taking it back I once again called customer service to see what their reaction was and they confirmed what the engineer said, take it back.
I talked to my friends and searched the internet for recommendations and decided to buy a Sebo. I have had the new cleaner since Jan and I can honestly say it is certainly better built and has a better performance than the Malaysian built Dyson I sent back.

I have a henry hoover and you do need to buy bags for them. Cannot recommend it enough, and less mess when you need to empty it :)

To be fair, if you bought a Dyson you've already been ripped off!

I fully agree, expensive rubbish. Cheap labour equals tacky product.

Dysons are just ridiculously expensive. The original ones which were made in Malden I think were pretty good, but since nice Mr Dyson sold out all his workers in the UK and shipped the operation overseas, the product has suffered immensely.
