If you can squeeze another £30 for the budget than I'd go for one of these (http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?rb=17405293159&action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=106253), otherwise I'd consider this (http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?rb=17405356976&action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=101827). Both good middle range boards, I think the Nvidia one would give you a bit more power.

The bog-standard 6600's are a bit wussy, you'd be better off with a 256MB 6600GT if you can find one for a similar price.

Or I think, for around that price, that this (http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?rb=17408130292&action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=101478) would whoop it.

If it's mainly for video editing, what exactly are you doing? If you're not using any input or output hardware, do you actually need more than a run of the mill £20-30 card?

mainly for video editing and the user of AE - but at times i will play games so i wanted a decent card that would enable me to do both.

The A8N is an PCI Express board.

The Sapphire ATI X1600 is good

Any X1000 series card will do speedy video encoding
