Anybody won a 'significant' amount of money on the lottery? or do you know somebody personally that has?

or actually have you won a significant amount of money on anything?

i'll let you decide on what you consider as significant - life changing maybe?

If you did win or know somebody close to you or a mate etc, did/has it changed them/you?

Yep my uncle got 5 numbers and bonus ball on lottery.
Didn't change him.

They bought a house, a couple of cars and a business.

He's by no means rich now (most of money gone) but he still has his cars and house. Business on the other hand was a bad investment.

Ah well... such is life!

how much did he win if u don't mind me asking

i think if i won a million i'd buy a top car and a decent house then with the rest i'd buy delapidated houses and do them up and sell them on - i was a bricklayer for 10 years so that'd be easy money me thinks!

£1 Million?

Let's see;

New House
New house for Dad
TVR Cerbera 4.5 Red Rose
Overfinch 580S
Insurance for both of these (!)
Donate £5000 to Yorkshire Air Ambulance
Pay best mate's debt off
Give the rest to family

Think that's all the money gone. God, didnt last long did it. I'm skint now.

Yep. I'd be even happier if I could add another thing to the list -

A private physiotherapist.

People say money doesnt bring happiness. But we all know a lack of it can cause upset and pain, so I say that's a rubbish statement!

yea that's true

having loads of money means you never have to let it be an issue that could potentially grind you down - other issues may make you unhappy whereas having little or no money does/can potentially cause unhappiness

Most I ever won was eleven quid!! Well better than nothing I guess :)

The other day though I was buying a scratchcard from GT News and this guy came in saying he had won seven grand on a scratchcard and was wondering how to claim it!!

Lucky bas... err congratulations to the guy anyways!!

If I won the big one, my shopping list would be as follows...

Pay off Mum and Dad's mortgage
Buy Mum a new car (she's due for one anyway, the lease runs out on the current car next month)
Holiday in Florida or California
New top of the range PC
Loads of Xbox games
Large donation to a few charities, chiefly Thorne House services for Autism, whom I'm a "service user" of.

With a jackpot (£10 million) win I'd:

- Buy my girlfriend a million roses
- Pay off parents' mortgage
- Pay off friends' mortgage
- Buy several cars for me and my mates
- Buy a house near my parents' house for me
- Buy a house near my girlfriends for me
- Buy a villa in St.Tropez
- Buy a small bar in Lanzarote for my Nan to live in, and run.
- Give £1 million to my parents
- Put £5 million in the bank
- Quit work and start a business and hire all my friends (run by my dad)
- Donate £1million to cancer research
- Stuff the rest in my pocket(s!).

:)

Most I have won on lottery is £75. Still not figured out a spell for it - when I get it I will e-mail it to my friends from my luxury villa!! :)
