I've wondered who this couple are for years and whether their still together or not. And then yesterday after driving past again, I had the Idea to see if any of you SF users knew either them, or their story.

Hasnt anyone else ever wondered?

After just reading my original post, i realised i hadnt made it very clear.

I am talking about the five arches (bridge) on Herries road. When travelling from Hillsboro, under the arches, it says on them ''Joanne and Boncho'' and I have wondered since I was little the story behind it.

So if anyones got any info.....come on someones gotta know...I would love to hear it!!

Cheers

Before that, the first bit of writing on there said "Eileen I love you" and that was years ago. It was about the same time as the Dexys single came out, so being an avid Smash Hits reader I used to think it was Kevin Rowland dangling upside down by his dungaree straps painting it on.

There's a garage in Thrybergh, rotherham with the brilliant graffiti "Mr Spoons" on it. Dunno who he is, but it makes me chuckle every time i see it

Been there ever since I was a nipper and we used to drive up to see my nan and grandpa at Tinsley...and that was in the very early eighties.

Seems like "Boncho" might be Sheffield's answer to "M Khan" or a forerunner of Fista.

Don't understand what the problem is. We just need to find a 85' bloke whose name is Boncho. How hard can it be?

Are you sure it said Boncho and not Bonzo.
Bonzo is a local lad from Penrith RD at side of Herries school.
hes in his late 30s im sure it s him that did it ,even his missus called Joanne i think!!! :hihi:

No idea who Boncho or Joanne are, sorry, but it got me thinking about my favourite ever piece of graffiti.

"Tonight Matthew I am going to be Terry Nutkins"

I used to walk past it on my way to work when I lived in Leeds. It always made me smile!

my fave daubing of all time was on the side of the old hillards building on barnsley rd, it said quite simply in massive spray painted lettering- BUM RING ! quite rude and childish but it used to make me smile
