oldtimer 18-03-2006, 08:02 AM In 1964, when I left Sheffield, there was a large pub at the junction of Foxhill road and Lyminster road. I don't remember the name of it, but I am sure of the location. Trouble is, I don't seem to be able to find it in the many threads on pubs on the forum. Anybody know if it is still there?
SallyW 18-03-2006, 09:09 AM Yes, it's still there. It's called the Fox. :)
whatsupthen 19-03-2006, 12:12 AM yes sallyw is right. I used to frequent it in the early seventies and later worked behind the bar for a short time.
It has changed a lot since i first went in. Various brewery make overs but not kept the original feel of a good esate pub. But hey times change.
oldtimer 19-03-2006, 02:23 AM Thanks for the information. I am going back to 1964 here_Did the pub ever have another name? The Fox doesn't seem to ring a bell (of course, my ears ring all the time these days!
kensimmo 20-03-2006, 05:22 PM Yes, it's still there. It's called the Fox. :)
I did'nt think that the Fox was built in 1964 and having lived on Foxhill Road from 1958-1968 can't recall anything having preceded it.
oldtimer 20-03-2006, 06:17 PM Kensimmo, I used to park a Rolls-Royce (my bosses) in the parking lot of the pub in January 1964. My original question was- did the Fox have another name before it was called the Fox. You are right, there was just an empty lot before the pub was built. Thanks for your reply. BTW, where on Foxhill road did you live?

Well having lived in the area since born in the fifties have always known it as the Fox. But will make enquiries for you. It does have a large car park and the name is in line with the area ie Deerlands, Fox Hill. Still see foxes and their cubs higher up the road. Sadly last year one dead after being run over.
Best wishes
