Just a bit of useless information :) :) Hecate 17-03-2006, 19:13 I think it's actually 'This Women's Work', but it is by Kate Bush. It's a beautiful song. jaynie38 17-03-2006, 19:15 oops, must have heard it wrong, my daughter loved this and was really excited when she found out the title, even if its slightly wrong!!!! :( taylor1 17-03-2006, 19:29 I didn't watch the Tamzin outhwaite thing but yes it is a beautiful song. I'm suprised that I havn't heard it before because I love kate bush and it's never been on any of the albums I've had. i'm gonna buy it and play it to death:D lazarus 17-03-2006, 19:40 I Was struck by one of the N.S.P.C.C. adverts it was very sad the way it was put over. I am very sorry for all children in a desperate situation, so I sent a mandate to pay £5 a month not much I know but they were only asking for £2, then I started getting information pamphlets all printed in colour on quality paper and I thought "these must cost a bomb" surely the money would be spent on the CHILDREN after a while they started to ask me for a bigger contribution, I know the children need help but I cancelled my D.D. it seemed to me money was being wasted needlessly, I also know that advertising brings in revenue but importuning on people who are not wealthy is just not on. taylor1 17-03-2006, 19:46 I totally agree, the same thing happened to me. I too cancelled my D.D because they kept asking for more money, very sad I know but at the end of the day you can only donate what you can afford:| bjshooter 20-03-2006, 13:19 Its brilliant isnt it, it was also on that drama with Tamsin Outhwaite, called Walk away and I stumble. Still going to go buy it though.:( bjshooter 20-03-2006, 13:22 I Was struck by one of the N.S.P.C.C. adverts it was very sad the way it was put over. Exactly, I give £5 a month to cancer research and they are always asking for more money, and when they ask they send things like ribbon badges and pens, plus the ones that are delivered to every door, everyone I know has a cancer research pen:loopy: think of all the money they could save. nick2 20-03-2006, 13:31 I Was struck by one of the N.S.P.C.C. adverts it was very sad the way it was put over. I have written to them asking they don't waste any more money sending me stuff through the post, if they want they can E_mail me, but don't send anything through the post. They took no notice and still send stuff. I haven't cancelled the DD but I do think what I donate probably only covers the cost of the bumf they send me. The video to This Womans Work is very good too, Tim McInnerny plays Kates husband in it. Hecate 20-03-2006, 13:42 ...The video to This Womans Work is very good too, Tim McInnerny plays Kates husband in it. Must go and seek this out. I've always loved the song, but I've yet to see the video. Tim McInnerny is an interesting choice. Wasn't the album released at around the same time he was Darling in 'Blackadder'? He's since ruined my regard for him, of course, by appearing in a Westlife video  . nick2 20-03-2006, 14:01 Must go and seek this out. There's a distressing lack of kate Bush DVDs out there. She must be about due for a 'best of' retrospective by now. This kind of strategy is something that i also find annoying, however research has shown that it does work (despite some people withdrawing their support) and the NSPCC has a very effective fundraising section. Kthebean 21-03-2006, 12:38 To be honest nick its probably cheaper for them to just send them out to everyone on a mailing list than to have an opt in/opt out system. I used to give money to care international until they me a credit card application form! |
