View Full Version : Looking for people interested in IT security
Hi
I'm looking for people around Sheffield who are interested in IT security and would like to get together every now and then to discuss it. My particular areas are web-app and wifi but I'm interested in all areas.
Is there anyone out there?

That has to be one of the most amusing responses I've read, or was it a wind-up?:hihi:
Have you actually read the rest of thread, apart from the OP?:loopy:

Im very interested in IT security.
Your a software developer ?
Be nice to have a security group in Sheffield for discussions.
You in BCS ? They have meetings all the time.
Im currently in final year @ hallam/computing.
p.s. Im genuinly interested unlike the other funny people.
I'd be interested.
I'm in OS and network security, particularly Open Source and UNIX environments.

Jimbob1989 22-03-2006, 16:45 I might be interested, but ASAP (http://asap.maddoktor2.com/) hate me :P I use to post regually on some of the security forums, but haven't for a while. Feel free to fire a PM over or something if you want.
well, if the original poster doesnt come back, maybe we get do something.
long as it isnt some script kiddy group.
Hi
Sorry for not getting back earlier, I got the first notification that a new post had been added but none from then on.
Anyway, I have my own business and one of the services I offer is web-app penetration testing and I'm looking at getting into wireless testing as well. Doing this kind of thing on my own is hard as there is no one to bounce ideas off, hence this post.
If anyone who is actually interested wants to PM me then we can try to arrange to meet up.
I've had some intereste in getting together and we've arranged to meet up at 6.30 on 4th April in the Access Space on Sidney Street, opposite the Rutland Hotel/pub and just down from the Showroom cinema.
If you are coming along let me know just so if we move on we can let you know where to.
Well, despite all the skeptics, we did get together last night. There were 5 of us and we had a good chat about security and general computer related stuff. We met in Access Space then went across the road and continued the discussions over a pint.
As it worked out we are all happy to meet up again so I suggest the first Tuesday of May, the 3rd. Meeting in Access Space again, around 6.30.
If anyone else is interested let me know and I'll tell you more.
sharpend 05-04-2006, 18:45 and very interesting it was too -
ninja - can't make that date - wifes birthday....
Will get the links to you we spoke about tomorrow am
Got the date wrong, its Tuesday the 2nd of May for the next one.
Nice one.
No, I'm not in IT security, but I thought I'd give u some support by posting anyway: :D
I wish I had ppl to bounce ideas off when I was doing development too. It's hard finding like-minded people, esp if you get stuck in a rut in your thoughts.

You should come to the next one Bago. Myself and ninja have exchanged emails a couple of times since. We are helping each other out on a small project
