I'd stop buying brown sauce any day if this ever materialize. :D I guess many other people like me have made Henderson’ crisps al fresco, by shaking loads into the bag until the crisps are soaked. Makes a terrible mess of your fingers though so an actual crisp flavour would be brilliant. I never thought of doing this - I must try it one day. Has anyone ever done this and what flavour crips did you used? To think of it YES, there is one ingredient which we are unable to get anywhere else in the UK.... Sheffield tap water. The quality of the water in Sheffield is very unique. I would imagine it would taste very different if it was produced in say London. Now I do hope they never add Fluoride to our water. That may well effect the taste of Henderson as we know it. :( http://society.guardian.co.uk/Print/0,3858,4558402,00.html Lickszz 10-05-2003, 23:21 I think Hendersons was the most pleasing so far. I was very pleased with the way all of my own questions were answered and I got the distinct impression that the person answering the questions enjoyed it. Ready Salted every time John, but not too much or they go soggy ! jimbol 16-05-2003, 00:17 What an excellent interview and highly interesting for the Hendo's afficionados. Pity I didn't know it was happening, I wanted to know if there was any truth in the rumour of the factory having to move premises. Anyone out there know? I'm just off to polish my bottle collection, does anyone else have one? Phanerothyme 11-06-2003, 21:08 I was in the Proper Pasty Company on Pinstone street today, and I noticed that they were selling their own relish. Closer inspection revealed it to be Hendersons Relish with the Pasty Company's label on it (bottled for them by hendersons, not bought and relabelled!) RPG 11-06-2003, 21:42 yeah, when i used to go in they asked me if i wanted some hendersons on my sausage rolls and pasties :) Tony Ruscoe 12-06-2003, 08:21 I notice Tesco (down Ecclesall Road) had Henderson's Relish marked up as "End Of Line"!!! Does that mean they're going to stop stocking it? Maybe they're going to bring out their own brand  PaulTansley 12-06-2003, 10:15 Sound advice in that interview, i would like to know how much a gallon costs and how long it would last. Woo 04-07-2003, 09:45 Originally posted by The Cycleracer Sound advice in that interview, i would like to know how much a gallon costs and how long it would last. A gallon of Hendersons can be bought at places like Makro, Bookers, Batley wholesalers or you can pop into the factory at Leavygreave Rd between 10am and 2.30 pm ~ Mon to Fri (This size is not yet available by mail order) It costs 13.75ukp direct from Factory and the labels states 3 years shelf life - but it will last indefinatley as most of the ingredients in themselves are preservatives such as salt, sugar syrup etc Hope that helps? waxy chuff 04-07-2003, 10:37 Great interview. theflyingfish 04-07-2003, 11:26 "Hendersons relish is a small family owned business. There are the family members, myself (General Manager) 3 members of staff bottle the relish and our production manager mixes the relish in the morning and doubles up as our local van driver in the afternoon." No way! What a tiny little company! I have visions of pots bubbling on a stove to make it. Not many companies llike this left in the world, I'm off to buy some right away! Whelk 04-07-2003, 16:25 sorry to say but i am not to keen on it. my tastes apart i wish them well BigD 21-08-2003, 11:05 Interview was great, but I must admit a shocking thing - I have never tasted it! Must check out my local UK Shop, and see if they stock it.:D underground 21-08-2003, 13:12 A great topic for my first post! I love the stuff, and always give it as presents, especially to southerners... But I have little niggle, it always annoys me when they say 'oh yes, it's the same as Worcester sauce!' NO! ABSOLUTELY NOT! (admittedly the stuff is black and comes with an orange label, but they always get a firm correction in the error of their ways!:x stella fan 21-04-2004, 21:27 This interview put a lump in my throat .....Proud to be from Sheffield. sweetdexter 21-04-2004, 22:52 Did hendersons ,at an earlier time used to be called"Hendersons Yorkshire Relish". If not, there used to be a product called "Yorkshire Relish" I distincly remember as a kid in the 40's having "Yorkshire Relish" fox20thc 22-04-2004, 18:56 I lived in hampshire for a few years and every time we came 'home' to sheff' I used to buy a case of the stuff as all the southern jessies had got a taste for it. As far as Im aware you can't buy it very far from sheffield but hendo's do a fab online ordering service so our hendo loving compadres from over seas (and even down south) can order it by the gallon and get it delivered. mer1002 27-04-2004, 22:08 Me and all my friends absolutely LOVE relish, we would be gutted if it stopped production. The 2 best ways to enjoy relish..... 1. With meat & potato pie 2. On chips...not crisps!! Once had meat & pot pie on a weekend trip to blackpool and forgot myself and asked for relish with it she looked at me gone out and said "do you mean brown sauce!!!" They dont know what there missing !! Pilon 28-04-2004, 11:19 I though it was an excellent interview that provided an insteresting insight into the world of Hendersons. When I came back to Sheffield for the Easter Break, the very last thing I did before going to the catch the train was buy a bottle from Morrissons. Had some on my cheese on toast last night. Couldn't leave home without it. SaxonLeigh 28-04-2004, 14:05 Geoff the link at the top of the page takes me straight back to the sheffieldforums home page…Is this meant to happern? John….the third quote of your first post on this thread about sheffield water. Southerners always comment to me on how nice sheffield water tastes. I cant say I agree, I think it tastes awful especially compaired to water from Doncaster….now that water is lovely. For the first 18 years of my life I couldn’t stand hendersons relish, now I cant get enough of it. the first time I had it & liked it my dad had put it on a large pie & I didn’t know what it was, then I asked him and when he told me I went & got the bottle & downed the whole lot nearly. Its absolutley gorgeous & cant eat chips, pie, crisps with out it, I put it on most food incluing pizza & curry, yum! Tipex 25-10-2005, 23:02 hendersons on my chips, hendersons on my pie, hendersons on my fish fingers, i love it, i love it, i love it. TheRedWizard 25-10-2005, 23:23 Best way to eat hendersons...... squeeze open or cut a hole in a scotch egg, pour loads of henderson's into it, shake it all around for ages, bite and enjoy!!! LoopyLou 26-10-2005, 07:31 that sounds fab:thumbsup: randolf 26-10-2005, 16:04 Where's this interview? the OP link takes me to SF home page.
