This winter, British Gas gave a £60 fuel rebate to its customers who were on a benefit (there was a specifc list, probably on their site) and who regsitered with them to claim.
A letter received today confirms that this will be raised to £90 for 2006/7. Those already registered don't need to do anything. For other people, especially with any form of disability etc. it may be worth checking your eligibility as with increased costs, anything that can be saved, is worthwhile.
Vulnerable Customer - Eligible Benefits
• Disability living allowance
• Pension Credit
• Attendance allowance
• War disablement pension which includes either a mobility supplement or constant attendance allowance
• Disablement pension which includes constant attendance allowance
• Child tax credit where the relevant income is £14,600 or less
• Working tax credit where the relevant income is £14,600 or less
• Council tax benefit
• Housing benefit
• Income-based job seekers allowance
• Income support
• Carers Allowance
• Severe Disability allowance
