View Full Version : Selling your body parts on the t'internet
Just pondering about this after a conversation with the mrs..
why is it illegal to sell your own body parts on the internet??
Can anyone explain why for me please.
Because from where Im sitting now.. it seems like a win-win
situation.. I get cash from selling my bits when I pop off - and the buyer gets my used organs.. all good as far as Im concerned.
Why is it therefore illegal?
Cheers all!

MuteWitness 11-04-2004, 19:26 yeh but you will be dead anyway so where does the money go?
*Twinkle* 11-04-2004, 19:32 I didn't even know there were people out there that did that sort of thing... :loopy:
Anyways, when posting, please bear in mind that some people may have just had their tea... Bleurgh
What about though if a buyer paid you in advance and then got you to sign some sort of legal document saying they could take what they wanted out of you when you died?
I read the newspaper article a while ago in the sun about
the guy who needed some cash to keep treating his sick daughter and he put an ad on ebay but they said it was illegal and then are now threatening to charge him..
I think it should be everyone's own choice what to do with their own bodies!
Sorry caprice- didnt mean to make U queasy
Hope you didnt have liver bleugh!!!
And just think if we could all sell our parts to say hospitals-
there would never be a shortage in emergencies..
and tramps could actually earn some proper dollar with their
lives - top stuff!
Nice to see you're enjoying your thread, Angelus.
*Twinkle* 11-04-2004, 19:49 Lol it amazes me how surgeons can cut people up and fiddle with their insides then go and eat liver and onions for their tea... eww!!

I wonder that too.. the dirty bidders!
Same with mortuary attendants as well..
cack job but someone's gotta do it I suppose..
Just wondering what other people thought on the subject
and would people be tempted by the fact you can get a lot
of cash for it as well..

And off you'd go and spend the money.
New house maybe, swimming pool, bloody big bar-b-que. Few expensive bevvies, barbie goes whoosh! You, burned to a frazzle!
Poor buyer gets nowt for his money but chargrilled offcuts.
Nah, wouldn't work.:(
matsalleh 11-04-2004, 19:59 Pick up a donor card and donate your organs for free.
Lol!
I guess I'd have to be very careful with myself I suppose mate..
dont want my prized assets to go up in flames do I!
I am already to be an organ donor for free myself but the question still needs to be asked--
Why cant I be paid for my bodyparts to be used in other people or for experimentation with when its my own body and I can
do as I please with it?
+ If people could get paid for their organs there would be no more organ shortages which I think would help out hell of a lot!

I would always be looking over my shoulder, if they were to pay for that then I would think they would pay for you to be taken out if it came to a time when they wanted ya liver or whatever.
Crap!
I didnt think of that mate as well---
Good point..

What happens if you were to live to a ripe old age of 90+ im not sure that they would want your old knackered organs then
I had a game on the Sega Dreamcast called headhunter and there was a big market for organs. The game was about you being a cop and you were involved with the dealings of a crime organization that sells human organs.

No problem - BUT the question is general in nature and NOT specific to Sheffield so I'm moving it to the correct forum.
Nomme
Anyone want to buy a big nose? I got one going cheap.
Funky Dave 12-04-2004, 10:36 You could work as a conman and sell other people's organs!!
On a more serious note, I once saw a documentary about an Indian man who sold a kidney and part of his eye (making him blind) in order to get out of debt. That's why selling body parts is illegal; eventually you'd end up with the world's poor becoming nothing more than spare part factories for the rich. Not good.
Wouldnt work. As someone else pointed out, what happened if they paid you up fron for whatever they wanted after your death, then you either died in some nasty way (hit by a train, fell off a high building, burned to death etc) meaning none of your organs would be any use to them, or you just didnt die until you were really old, so again theyd be no good to them by then. Couldnt see it taking off, simply because you couldnt guarantee that theyd get what they paid for.
