View Full Version : Ever not posted for a while and then found it hard to start again?
Does anybody else who loves this forum sometimes take a break and then finds it difficult to come back to it? --- By that I mean, hard to get back into discussions???
I only ask because I've had a 4 week break from here (with a new job starting and much later finishing times). Having only just got back to the net, I have been lurking on here these past few days and found it weird to see the chat and debates just going on like normal. I have found it almost impossible to get back into it.
Is this strange?
Has anybody else felt this way??
dieselbabe 13-03-2006, 01:20 Yes ok i not well knows on this forum yet to people. but i am to some as i talk to them on msn. But when i not posted for a few days or ive not been on for a week i get asked if im ok as they not seen me posting. It not that i dont want to post but i get postal block and i dont know what im sopose to type or do.
But i now just look on the threads and read what others have put and then i get into the swing of things. i love this forum but i do have a break now and then for a few days even week, as sometimes comming on all the time and seeing the same old threads does get a bit boring, so i like to wait to see if anything new been posted but i do pop in more then anything now and read then post now adays.

Fact is Deavon you are back and that's what matters.... you have taken that first step in a discussion.... don't lurk anymore but tell us all what you want to talk about..... come on give us something to have a natter over.... tell me about your new job, it sounds interesting and are you enjoying it?.... has it changed your lifesyle?... tell me.... tell me.... or I will suck my thumb. :D
youwhatref 13-03-2006, 06:10 I wouldn't say it's the break for me (which i sometimes have) but just on some days i can find myself not contributing at all. Dont know why, some days none of the threads dont seem to interst me or if they do there's already 10 pages plus and i haven't the time to read it all. But i'm honest i do feel frustrated if i cant contribute in some way!! Dont know if that's just me.
I've been away for about a mth and what surprrises me is the change in people contributing to the threads.
I don't recognise many of the names and on looking at the number of posts and date of joining I realise that they are fairly new to the forum.
So many in such a short tme.

Aww. Thank you. :)
With a welcome like that, I'm sure I will be able to slip right back into the heady discussions (gossip) and challenging debates (late night banter).

(New job is great; but all encompassing, very time consuming and really hard, hard work. I'm loving it!)
Draggletail 13-03-2006, 22:32 Sounds like you've got 'forumers block' mate :D
Keep practising - I'm sure it won't take long to get back into it :)
lizzmobile 14-03-2006, 20:09 You'll be back to your usual self in no time Deavon, just sharpen those claws!
Welcome back!
sugarnspice 14-03-2006, 21:24 Yes I had this just around Christmas. So odd! You'll get back into it.
Welcome back by the way.
royjames 14-03-2006, 21:58 To answer your question,NOPE I just get right back into the swing of things.
Yes! I go through phases of not posting much at all. I'm currently in one of those phases and finding it hard to take interest in many of the threads. I think it's partly to do with a lot of subjects being done to death again and again. Obviously, if you've been a member for years, threads will start to repeat themselves as new members join. Still new things will pop up and take your interest again.
It's not always a bad thing. I currently have a ridiculous amount of work to do, so the less I am tempted to post the better.
note: he says that while taking a break from what is about to be an all night working session. :(
the_rudeboy 15-03-2006, 12:08 This is likely to be my last post for a while so I'll answer your question when I return.

I do the same, particularly of late.
Swan_Vesta 15-03-2006, 12:19 Welcome back Deavon, I had a similar thing where I took a few months off and then returned. Most of the old faces were there to welcome me back into the fold :D but I found it a mite difficult to get back into the swing of things.
I think that the forum is a pretty fluid beast and unless continually monitored can change quite a bit in a short space of time, so much so that you can find it a bit strange upon your return.

Noooooooooooo! Why? :( Come back!
This is likely to be my last post for a while so I'll answer your question when I return.
If anyone's confused, then please don't worry, he's not far away and just needs to take a break for a while. He will be back in due course.
If you need to get anything urgent to him, then pm me and I'll pass it on.

Wow, this is getting like a SF Reunion.
Just like the last bit of Grease, where Frenchy says
"Hey look, all the gang's together again!"
(You can tell I'm getting back into the swing of things).
