View Full Version : Robbed! Right under our noses! [S2]
lexatron 12-03-2006, 11:50 Last night I was at my friend's house on Priestley Street [s2] and someone came into the house and stole a £700 bike from the front room! We were only upstairs. Stupidly we didn't have the front door locked [and therefore insurance is a no-no] but we heard nothing. The bike has a tracking device in though so hopefully he might get it back.
Just thought i'd warn everyone who may live around there, bloody thieves!

Can I strongly suggest you remove a certain part of that post on the off chance the thieves read the forum and they don't go looking for something on the bike and remove it? When you do I'll get rid of this post too.

lexatron 12-03-2006, 13:01 It wasn't my bike so don't know what the lad's told the insurance ppl.
And to get the tracking device out they would have to pretty much destroy the whole frame so doubt they'd bother!
The fingerprint ppl [that's their official title of course] found nothing so doubt they'll be caught. Can't believe the audacity of some people, to just walk into someone's house..!
neeeeeeeeeek 12-03-2006, 14:55 I used to live on that street and found someone coming down the stairs! and on a seperate occasion some stuff was nicked from our kitchen. Hope you get it back.
:)
Even if the door was unlocked, the thieves were still technically breaking and entering as they did not have permission to be there. Your insurance company should have no excuse for not paying up (although doubtless they will try it on!)
That was what the nice policeman told me when we left a window open and they nicked our PS2, anyway :)
My brother-in-law had a laptop stolen in the same way 6 months back, that was in Hillsborough.
Plain Talker 13-03-2006, 08:41 sorry to hear that these sneak thieves robbed you.
It is a sad fact that some folk would "steal your breath" as my dad says.
However, I hope you will take on the lesson contained in this incident, and will now be more vigilant, and ensure that, from now on, your doors are kept locked, and keep these little scroates out. (sorry, that sounds harsher than it was intended; I am sympathetic, and do feel that the thieving little scroates should keep their sticky fingers to themselves)
PT
And that its easy to burgle a particular house on P*******y St.
Wheres S2 ? I lived in Burngreave for a little while.I kept My mountain bike at my parents for fear of it being knicked (was a bit paranoid as I'd already had 2 knicked when locked up) I took it there one day as I needed it the next day,I was really careful about locking the door.It was in the back room amd we were in the front(2up 2 down terraced)A mate was round and he popped out to his car for something and forgot to lock the door when he came back in.Whilst we watched t.v in the front room the bike,my camera and a few other bits and bobs were nicked from the back room,it was so gutting to know you could of stopped them.I t had only been there 4 hours.insurance did pay up though, but I enede up spending the money on household bills etc,and have never replaced my bike( got a really decrepid un-knickable-or useable for that matter scrappy thing now),I really miss cycling, the solitude imparticulary.
I despise theives it's not just the losing the beloved item ,it's the not feeling safe in your own home and the waking up sleepless in the night which is the worst thing, the way it plays on your mind.
Plain Talker 14-03-2006, 09:20 s2 covers Highfield, Lowfield, Arbourthorne, Norfolk Park, manor and manor park, as well as Hyde Park, and Park Hill, and most, if not all of Wybourn (I suspect that parts of the bottom end of Wybourn may have an s9 postcode, on the woodbourn Road end)
P "more useless information! sorry! T
These people should be found and publicy whipped and fisted in public !
a good idea would be to publically insert the 'stolen item' up the criminals back side!
this way, i believe ps2's would be safe. and certainly bikes.
It's quite scary actually, but... what I don't get is...how come they would try the door to the house ? Unless they've been stalking you and know you got valuables in the house ? Especially if we're just talking hours here.
Sorry if all this sounds a bit of a paranoid theory, but it does make you wonder...
