I'm hoping to move to Sheffield soon, and have got some job interviews in the region (Barnsley, Huddersfield and Wakefield). Does anyone know how long it would take to drive from the Ecclesall Road area to any of these places at rush hour? I know Barnsley is closer, but the jobs I've seen in Huddersfield and Wakefield look nicer. I'm not sure if these places are too far away - wouldn't mind driving for 45mins ish, but not too much more. Any advice would be greatly appreciated - got my first interview on Thurs!

About 45-55 mins to both of these. The longest part will be getting to the M1. I used to commute to Leeds and it took me between 1hr and 1hr15.

Good luck

Would a train be out of the question? Not sure how long it would take, but times might be comparable if you walked to the station!

Unfortunately I'll need a car for my job cos I'll have to do home visits and things :( If the part of the journey that takes a long time is getting to the A1, would it be better to live somewhere other than Ecclesall Road? It'd have to be quite cheap but safe.

If thats a problem then you would be better moving to the North of the city.

Hillsboro, Chapeltown, etc

Why not live where the job is?
