I am from the S10 area of sheffield and love it around there, but since moving to Crystal Peaks I have found that I am still able to get to town centre easy by tram but am 10mins from motorway, 20 mins to peak district, 3 mins from large shopping centre, and really enjoy it where I am.

Nobody seems to advertise or think about this area of sheffield, which is so nice.

Whats everybodys thoughts on the area?:D

I live near Crystal Peaks, Beighton actually. I love it, and would love to stay around here. We have good schools, and its quiet and untroubled.

It's busy now that the new Sainsburys is open.
It's a nightmare getting round the roundabout and parking is rubbish!

hi

I would like to say that crystal peaks is a great place too live.I was born in the north east a place called Seaham and moved to Sheffield in 2002 and move to crystal peaks area.I find the people really friendly and helpful and its quite a trouble free area to live in.The schools are good too,my son goes to Emmanuel junior school and ive had no major problems.

Hi.

I've recently moved between Morrisons at Halfway and Crystal Peaks. I would like to be able to walk to Crystal Peaks from my house (along Eckington Way), but can't as there is no path. Does anyone think that a path should be made, especially with the new school being built? There is plenty of space on the grass verges.

Apart from that, I really like the area!!

I'm out at S20 too. Funnily enough most call it C Peaks area as so many in Sheffield dont know S20 exists. I live at Owlthorpe which makes ppl even more clueless :hihi:

I understand from Estate Agents that it is an up and coming area as ppl cant afford the Ecclesall/Dore/Totley districts but S20 (apart from Westfield) is generally a fairly new area.

The down side is the the amenities is not up to scratch. I have no local shop or pub etc

I think that if you do a search, the area has been mentioned many times.

I think the whole "its right next to the tram" thing, is an under-rated attraction of the area. When they stop you driving into town...and they will...it will become a God-send.

When I moved to Sheffield I wasn't bothered where I lived, it was the type of house I was looking for...but I see no reason to move away from this area.

Hardly a swinging endorsement, but we're happy. :)

:hihi: Crystal peaks is still a relatively new town. Most people moved there from outside because of nice new housing and many came fom all over not just Sheffield. So is is not surprising there is not the cohesion of an older village or town. Don't forget ,as an earlier commentator alluded, this area was once in Derbyshire. The gradual spread of Sheffield boundaries has spread from Gleadless out to Eckington over the last 30 years! So there are good transport links, a good library and good schools in the area. The indoor market at Crystal peaks shopping centre has always been a very friendly place with plenty of bargains!
However I prefer to stay, where my roots and family are, in north Derbyshre and commute.:hihi:

It does seem pretty clean and the connection from the tram helps and they have Crystal Peaks Shopping Centre which make it the bustling metropolis that it is today.
