Myself and Spyro are cooking up a gambling tournament which I personally like to call the XL Forum coven across at my forums which are at www.angelusxl.com

I've spoken to the gaffer JoeP and for the sake of the sheffield forum we cannot for a lot of reasons have the gambling on here- however I will be hosting the tournament on my site which I have also been cleared to advertise this purpose on here.

I keep getting annoyed at the fact that most 'fans' on here like to criticise me for making comments not to there taste.. now comes the time when I would like the 'fans' on here to backup the talk thats been going on for a while- in short- put your money where your mouth is lads!

The tournament is thus

The participants each put in £5/10 per bet.. Spyro I have decided is trustworthy enough in my book to keep all the money pooled together until we have a winner.

Then comes the best part- the winner of the particular bet- gets either 60/70% of the winnings - the rest goes to a charity who we will all select as a group.

I am game with this, I love betting and the fact that we are helping charity as well as winning a few quid is enough for me.

So, I want to now know who is in and who is out.
I've heard a lot of comments from a few people in particular on this sports section who I think now need to put up or shut up- and its for charities as well.

So, who's game lads?

Go and pay to watch your team instead of basing your opinions on what you see on tv and the 'fans' might have a bit more respect for your opinions. As it stands, everyone sees you as an armchair fan.

I generally don't gamble.

But if I was to place a wager... as someone has already pointed out on another thread, many of us predict similar outcomes from games. What chance is there to win anything significant?

I would seriously love to do that job.

Any way that I can take the **** out of Alan Hansen and Mark Lawrenson would be perfect for me.

I really dont give a flying pigs ****e what you lot think of me on here- and the only reason you are naming me as an armchair fan is because I told you right from the off I dont go to football.

If you dont respect me- I dont really care Gypo but just let it be known that if you are as good as you think you are, get your ass onto the betting side of it on my site- and lets find out.

Same goes for the rest of you with all mouth and nothing to back it up with..
get yourself betting with myself and Spyro or zip it- because without you backing up your comments with a bit of cash.. it means nowt to me.

'I generally dont gamble - because I know I would lose because I dont know much about football' is the real comment you should be making Gypo.
I challenge you to a betting duel.

We all DO NOT as I said before predict the same things, and the chance to win significant is thus- say everyone puts in £5 into the pot and we have 10 peeps involved in the gambling section ... thats £50 right there... so whoever wins gets say £30 and the rest goes to charity, but I am sure we can sort out the finer points amongst ourselves as to how much of the percentage goes to charity.

Hey everyone- I have checked out your responses and come up with a few more ideas for the gambling cabal.

* Any bets can be accepted for anything really, football, TV bets anything
anything we could bet on we can do so.

* Anyone can join us for the gambling be it men or women

* Charities can be decided by the participants but also feel free to send in
ideas for other charities we can help by doing so

Any suggestions for what we can do on my site about the gambling please let know as I would like to make it exciting for everyone!

Heyup

Forum is now up and running again, just register up and then you will see the XL Gambling Coven right at the botton of the forums.

Yep, the gambling has got to be away from the SheffieldForum after speaking to JoeP because the SF may get into trouble for it- so its going to be at my forum at www.angelusxl.com

We now have a fab arcade section as well- DonkeyKong!!!

'I generally dont gamble - because I know I would lose because I dont know much about football' is the real comment you should be making Gypo.
I challenge you to a betting duel..

You've shown time and again the extent of your football knowledge.

Effectively you are a scholar; you can reel off extensive figures and stats from various secondary sources (picking and choosing the ones that fit your argument best) , but you quite obviously don't have the first hand, primary experience required to really have a true grasp of what you are talking about.

As for the betting comment, I don't gamble in the bookies where I stand to lose/gain a decent sum of money; why would I or anyone else make cash bets with you? How would you collect/award succesful bets? If I was to gamble, and let's say I won, how do I know you would uphold your end of the bargain?

I'll happily join in the predictions and hold my hands up if and when I'm proven wrong. However, I don't feel a pressing need to win/lose small sums of money between a group of people I've never met.

a five pound bet? and only win back £30? lets be honest angelus i dont think they are great odds.

lets say we are predicting up and coming results from prem games (10 games) and i got them all correct at the bookies, i would make a mint.

its all very well betting with mates, but you only do that to say "i bet the blades will go up, tenner says they do"

If it's all the same with you Angelus, I'll stick with Messrs Hill, Ladbroke and Coral. Remember though the weekly Premiership prediction thread and I'll be up for a world cup special no problem.:)

As an ex bookie, I think gambling is for fools, gambling between mates means that sooner or later they are unlikely to be your mates and gambling with people you don;t know and have never met - yeah right :hihi:

Why don;t you take a scan of your weekly coupon or betting slip (which is date and time stamped by hills/ladbrokes) , scan it in and post a link to it ?

There's (YOUR) money riding on it and your mates can see your predictions and how right you are ?

And as a bonus - nobody falls out ...
