Have an attachment of a video clip on the end of my sons E Mail, but when I click on the pict.number ,it takes me straight to a page thats all about virus scanning not supported for this type of file etc; on going on the help part I read that there is a "download without scan link".Where is this, and has anyone used it ?

Sorry!
Where is the "Download Without Scan" link?
Yahoo! Mail no longer provides the option to download an attached file without first scanning it for viruses. Enforcing virus scanning before downloading a file is much safer for users. The process of scanning for viruses is quick and easy and ensures that the user is provided maximum possible protection against viruses.

Ive been on the Yahoo information site, but theres so much information, and Im not very computer literate. Can you roughly tell me how to scan my sons attachment although I know its from him.Ive tried to download it twice, but nothing has come up.Im guessing its because its not been scanned,is this correct?

I have a couple of Yahoo Mail accounts myself and when I read your question I also believed that the "Download without scanning" option should have been available somewhere.
I was not aware that it had been removed until I found that answer hidden away in their "help" files.
I have tried setting up a situation to see what happens if a file cannot be scanned. But I haven't been able to set up a file or extension that Yahoo doesn't like.
My understanding of what Yahoo are saying is that 'if their scanner cannot scan the file, they will not let it through'.... and that means that you cannot get the file.
Can you tell us the 'file type' of the video? (That is to say, give us the letters after the dot in the file name.)
... and ....
Can you also tell us the size of the attachment file?
.... and .....
Have you recieved video clips from your son before and been able to download them successfully?
If "yes" ... were they of the same file type and size?
The reason I ask is that if we see that it is, in fact, a file of a common type that Yahoo should actually recognise, it would suggest that the file is corrupted in some way and un-readable.
