ANGELUS 07-03-2006, 05:49 PM Big game of the week tonight for me and I will be watching the highlights with interest.
Personally I think Chelsea are heading out tonight as I cant see them beating Barcelona at home.
Peoples opinions please..
spyro2000 07-03-2006, 06:02 PM I think you may be right. However I will be putting a tenner on Chelsea to progress,
Robbie_Lovin 07-03-2006, 06:03 PM chelsea all the way for me.
robben is just waiting to have a blinder
youwhatref 07-03-2006, 06:07 PM I have an inkling Chelse could pull it off. But who cares, i'm looking forward to watching the trouble :hihi:
Agent Gypo 07-03-2006, 06:38 PM I think Chelsea might do it, they've certainly got the players to do it and Mourinho is one of the best managers in the game.
Is this on sky or ITV?
daverity 07-03-2006, 07:25 PM Like them or not Angelus, Chelsea are a quality side and ARE capable of turning over any club home or away.
I watched Barça at weekend against Deportivo, at the Nou Camp, they won 3-2 but were far from convincing then. Of course that's not to say they aren't quality as well because they are, they're just not quite as invincible as perhaps some might think.
Who do I think will win? Too close to call and I wouldn't bet on it but I hope Chelsea.
EDIT: I didn't actually go to the Nou Camp, I've just realised that it reads as though I did! I watched it on telly.
CHAIRBOY 07-03-2006, 07:39 PM Nailing my colours to the mast, I want Barcelona to go through because antics at West Brom confirmed my view about Mourinho. I thought Ranieri was a charming man and I like several of the Chelsea players - Drogba isn't one of them - but I find there is now an 'edge' I don't care for.
ANGELUS 07-03-2006, 11:25 PM Well- I just love it when I am right.
The best team in europe at present won over both legs as I predicted.
By the way if anyone wants a tip for the world cup - Brazil!
Just in case you might want to listen to me for a change :)

you and majority of other peoples tip in the world for the world cup hey?
nothing like backing a favourite hey angelus (obviously excluding your current team)
is that why you became a man utd fan?? to support the best?? you gonna become a brazil fan soon too? :hihi:
stick your neck out on the line for a tip and get it right and people might respect what you say more

Just out of sheer cussedness I'm off to Ladbrokes tomorrow to put a tenner on Trinidad and Tobago Angelus!
Brazil don't travel too well in Europe. I seem to remember they've only won it once in Europe and I lost a packet on them back in 1998 that I do remember!:(

this is true, and was about 1958 if i remember correctly
but with that in mind i still believe it is between england and brazil
simonj 07-03-2006, 11:45 PM The bottom line over the two legs was that Chelsea were no match for Barcelona. Barca had a game plan and stuck to it, Chelsea rarely troubled them and never looked like scoring. The game itself was somewhat spoiled by an over zealous referee who deemed that any physical contact whatsoever was a foul and blew his whistle. And right at the death I think he felt sorry for Chelsea and gave them a rather dubious penalty. Mind you, two opposing players did physically make contact with each other so I suppose he was just being consistent!!

Seeing as you picked 'Chelsea all the way for me' I guess again you must know more about football yet again!
Quick answers to some of your points as well
- Man Utd fan since birth
- I've had money on Brazil now for the world cup 2006 for over 2 years
'Stick your neck out on the line for a tip' - I've been saying for how many months now that chelski would go out to barcelona- and **** on me- who was right... MOI! Again!

Up to you mate- it will be your loss I promise you!
ANGELUS 08-03-2006, 01:12 AM Just out of interest- reading through robbies thread above.
Who is putting 'their neck on the line' and picking england to win the world cup?
Just out of interest?
I think we should start having a few friendly wages on here, just to see if people put their money where their mouth is!!
I'm up for it- anyone else?

no point really
perhaps if we knew each other on a personal note i would. in fact i definately would
ANGELUS 08-03-2006, 01:31 AM I think it would be a cracking idea.
We could have someone trustworthy as a banker and keep the betting money in like a paypal account or something and then the winner gets the whole amount from it.
I'd certainly be up for it- a couple of quid now and again wont break the bank and it would certainly be interesting to see who is the official king of football betting on here.

Angelus, Can I just clarify firstly that the post re: Trinidad & Tobago was a **** take, though I think that you might have misconstrued it as such.
As far as who will win, my money is already on either Italy or Argentina. You've nominated Brazil so far, pick another nation (but not England or my two) we'll both put a ton into the pot and see how we go on. If England win then we both pay a ton into the pot which directly goes to a charity that we both agree on (I'll suggest Cancer Research). If none of our nominations win the Cup, then the highest finisher of the four teams gets the 200 quid.
Up for it?;)
Longcol 08-03-2006, 02:22 AM You'd both be far better off investing your money in the local bookies holiday fund.;)

I gathered the Trinidad post was a pisstake mate!!
I dont think anyone would seriously put money on them to win anything really :)
I think we need to start a betting coven on here, because trust me I'm liking the idea of a betting spree.
Yep- lets make it interesting, I was thinking maybe £5/10 each participant puts into the pot for each bet.. the winner takes an amount decided amongst us all and the rest goes to charity.. I would love this as it benefits people in need as well so its all good.
I was thinking individual singular bets though at first- and I definitely wont be putting any money on England mate :hihi: but I am sure we could all come up with some ideas for the betting.
ANGELUS 08-03-2006, 03:20 AM You'd both be far better off investing your money in the local bookies holiday fund.;)
Trust me when I say I love my betting.. I am a VERY good gambler.
The bookies dont usually win with my bets.

perhaps you should bet some more and get a season ticket for OT

Well done for predicting the correct outcome of a 2 horse race.
daverity 08-03-2006, 12:45 PM Angelus if we can organise some kind of betting for the World Cup then by all means count me in old boy.

Bit of a proud boast there Angelus and I'm going to call your bluff and enable you to give us all a chance to witness your prodigious talent as a tipster.
To use a phrase of yours, trust me on this, it won't cost you a penny. Here's what you do- you set up a thread, of the sticky variety if possible, called Angelus's Top Tips and before you make your bets, you post on the forum what you propose to wager on and how much. After say 6 months we'll all be able to judge your claim as the 'bookies nightmare'. You never know you might just build up a mighty following and it turn to bigger and better things! Are you up for it Angelus? ;)
scottishdude 08-03-2006, 01:09 PM Was gutted :( when Chelsea went out last night but the way Mourinhio is picking his team at the moment isn't a surprising result. He probably would have problems picking his nose at minute.
Should have started with Crespo & Guidjohnson. Also should have started with SW Philips. Cech also wants to feed the ball out more inteligently instead of just booting it up the pitch where 9 x out of 10 it reached a Barca player.
How come Big Frank can keep ball low when he takes a penalty but "sky's" it on shots and free kicks?
My prediction for cup is Juventus. After scraping through their 2 legs they will be more focused. Besides which, Nedved is my star striker on Pro Evolution Soccer 5. :hihi: :hihi:
spyro2000 08-03-2006, 02:59 PM Im all up for some dodgy gambling. Whos gonna sort it?

With the money I will make off you lot- I may be able to at the minute :)
ANGELUS 08-03-2006, 03:47 PM Well done for predicting the correct outcome of a 2 horse race.
That I told you all to back MONTHS ago... why you all no listen? :)
And you gave me a challenge a little while back - so now I am taking you up on the offer and challenging you right back.
Lets have a bit o' gambling going on for cash - lets see how good you are.
ANGELUS 08-03-2006, 03:51 PM Angelus if we can organise some kind of betting for the World Cup then by all means count me in old boy.
No problem! We need someone reliable on here to act as the banker to whom I can transfer cash via paypal or nochex accounts to in order to get my bets up and rolling... anyone interested.. Spyro or Vidster- you seem like honest blokes!

It was not about Mourinho last night..
I have known for months that Barca would do chelski- I've been saying it for ages.
Chelski are NOT a side suited to europe- they always seem to cock it up- the same as us unfortunately at the moment.
The only team in the prem suited to european football at the minute- and it kills me to say it- are Liverpool.
I'm not going on a full blown rant about chelsea - because I just cant be arsed anymore but I hope the result over the two legs will open people's eyes a little bit wider.
ANGELUS 08-03-2006, 03:56 PM Im all up for some dodgy gambling. Whos gonna sort it?
Top stuff- I think you should be the banker mate.
I'd trust you to hold onto the cash, even though I dont know you from adam, you seem OK though after talking to you for a while on here
I think we need some kind of account that all the cash from the forum can be paid into, like a nochex or paypal account where the money stays until the winner claims it and also an amount would be paid to charity as well to make it a bit more interesting.
You up for it mate?
spyro2000 08-03-2006, 03:59 PM Im up for it Angelus. Ive got paypal if you want me to do the banking.
plus me being on here 24 hours a day 7 days a week means its hard for me to do a runner :hihi:
You gonna set up a seperate thread, then we can get it sorted

Nice one mr!
Can we do this on the SForum though??
There isnt any rules about gambling on here is there?
Just wondering whether to PM Joe just to be on the safe side- if we cant do it here we can always do the gambling on my site in the forums there.
spyro2000 08-03-2006, 04:11 PM Just had a scan through the site rules pages and I dont see anything about gambling. Would anyone else care to double check.

Just waiting for the go ahead and if its ok with you I can have my cash in your account by tonight for a couple of bets if anyone is game for tonights matches?
spyro2000 08-03-2006, 04:25 PM Well im well up for it. Let us know when you get the go ahead, then I think if we can do it, we should created a dedicated thread so things dont get confusing and everyone knows whats going on.

No worries will do mate!
We also need to work out between us all how much the winner takes % wise and how much the charities get as well.
I was thinking along the lines of either 60/40 or 70/30 but we will have to discuss this.
ANGELUS 08-03-2006, 04:44 PM After making sure with Joe just to be sure we are not getting the forum into trouble its best that we move the gambling to another area.
I can sort it at my forums instead, see sig below for the location, so you are warmly welcome to do the biz on my forum- I am not poaching people from the SF also- just moving the activity to a safer location for us all to do a bit of hard gambling in.
Cheers Joe though mate for the clarification
Agent Gypo 08-03-2006, 04:45 PM Awful game last night. I was looking forward to it but from the kickoff it was uninspiring stuff.
Chelsea never really got going, and didn't look up for the fight. Strange, as they are quite capable of beating anyone, including Barcelona.
Barcelona were the better side on the night, but that's not saying much. Aside from the one goal and a few nice backheels from Ronaldinho, Barca weren't exactly playing to the top of their game. They held off Chelsea's breaks well, but I'm surprised Chelsea didn't threaten more. They looked better when Crespo came on though.
Robbie_Lovin 08-03-2006, 11:31 PM It was not about Mourinho last night..

did you have liverpool to win tonight then?? :hihi:
lets face it, you can say all you want, but eventually there will only be one winner, so does that mean the remainder are not suited for europe?? no it doesn't.... it is how you take each oppponent at a time, like liverpool did last season.
i dont think it is people who need open there eyes about chelsea, i think it is you. chelsea are more than capable of beating any side in the world, no doubt in my mind, they are a great unit. but, they just wasnt up to it against barcelona

No doesn't sound good Angelus. You have identified yourself as the 'scourge of the bookies' therefore one would assume that you partake in wagers on football, horse racing etc on a fairly regular basis. The idea is that you tell us what you're going to bet on and then we can judge your self-proclaimed ability, it's not for us to pick your bets for you. If at the end of the trial period you are 'well up' on your predictions, then you have proved your point. ;)

im in agreeance with this
Guderian 09-03-2006, 12:10 AM Angelus, you are obviously not "the scourge of the bookies".
An experienced gambler would not waste time betting at such low odds, when he could place the same bets for big prices on Betfair etc. And he certainly wouldn't work for a living!
