grownsy 06-03-2006, 11:24 PM For some sneaky reason, im praying for a better season, F1 has been shocking for the last 5 years, i also have a gut feeling that Trulli is going to wipe up this year!
hagueok 06-03-2006, 11:27 PM Renault
Fernando Alonso
he has to be fav, when is Michael Schumacher going to retire?
still hold a candle for Jenson Button. but the hunger has gone i feel . he now has lots of cash . he seems happy to make the numbers up, rather than try to win
my wild card this year has to be Felipe Massa, whats he going to do in a real car ?
vidster 07-03-2006, 12:33 AM Button for his 1st race win this season 8)
Who is going to win the title.... God knows? I have a feeling this is going to be very close with the flying Finn somewhere near the top at the end of the season (if the car doesn't break every 2 minutes).
SpiderPete 07-03-2006, 12:38 AM Yes Felipe Massa in a better car, could be interesting to watch ......
foxy027 11-03-2006, 10:22 PM I'm glad F1 is back again although im Not sure about this new qualifying set up...Cant wait for the race on Sunday
Alonso and Trulli seem to be at the top of their game at the moment so, provided the cars don't let them down, I think it will be a fight for the championship ~ a bit like the Michael Schumacher/Damon Hill scraps back in the early 90s, but without the cheating, hopefully.
I find it difficult to vote in the poll, because I can't pick an outright winner ~ can we still do multiple choice polls?
SpiderPete 12-03-2006, 11:21 AM 10 mins to go, I cannot wait, I didn`t see the qualifying laps, but heard it had changed....... shall we post the results as wll in this thread .... why not .. lol....
hotphil 12-03-2006, 11:27 AM New qualifying was quite exciting - 15 minutes free for all with the slowest six getting the last six places and not progressing to the second period, then another 15 minutes again with the slowest six not making it to the final 20 minute period where the remaining 10 can go flat out, but on race level fuel that gets replaced at the end of the session. A helluva improvement over the dull formats they've been trying over the last few years. Not quite perfect in my opinion, but certainly actually watchable.
bobsyouruncle 13-03-2006, 01:07 AM missed the qualifying, but glad they've brought tyre changes back, much more exciting especially after the alonso/shoemaker fight.
button did ok, coulthard wasnt that impressive, but a fantastic first race.
kimi did well coming into finish 3rd from the back of the pack, even bg is hooked !!
keep it up bernie, you may have us f1 fans back soon!!
Bikertec 13-03-2006, 01:38 AM I missed it today what were the results who won.:(
vidster 13-03-2006, 02:17 AM Alonso
Shumacher
Kimi
Button
Kimi did really well to come from the back of the grid for 3rd.
Bikertec 13-03-2006, 02:27 AM Sounds like I missed a good race no Highlights tonight though.
Cheers Vidster.
hotphil 13-03-2006, 08:38 AM Highlights were last night :-(
Lindseyw 13-03-2006, 10:44 AM Highlights were last night :-(
And tonight/tomorrow ...2.45 am
SpiderPete 13-03-2006, 02:21 PM well I enjoyed the first race of the season, the Alonso 2nd pit stop was amazing, and wasn`t he close to Schumacher.
Kimi did very well to come 3rd, I like their new car, and Rosberg was impressive as well.
Looks like Ferrari are back, although Massa did a nice spin and Alonso did well to miss him.
vidster 13-03-2006, 08:28 PM I have tipped M Shumacher to win the title this season on my forum. Last year was just a big no-no for Ferrari. This season will be better.
SpiderPete 19-03-2006, 07:56 PM Well this year is like a continuation of last year
Renault ontop as usual, Button back to his usual 3rd, and Kimi doing his usual crashes, but still a good race.
ourjs 26-03-2006, 09:56 PM SCHUMACHER FOR 8TH TITLE
THE A TO Z OF HIS OUTSTANDING QUALITIES
I do so hope so he is;
advertuerous, beautiful,
charasmatic, delectable,
exciting,fun,
great, hunky,
industrious,jaunty,
knowledgeable,legendary,
magnificent, number one,
opportunist,prepared,
quizzical,ready,
scinitillating, torrid,
upmarket, vox populi,
watchful, xenophilistic,
yeomanly, zany.
I would welcome anyone else's ideas
SpiderPete 02-04-2006, 04:16 PM Well that was a eventfull Australian Grand Prix, plenty of crashes, and a few safety cars, and dear me, poor Button, started on poll and his engine blew up on the final corner and finished in 10th, lol.
Lindseyw 02-04-2006, 05:23 PM I was jumping up and down willing him to go on and get over the line, however if he had he would have started 10 places back in the next race, should have gone for it IMO, he would at least of been in the points.
ourjs 03-04-2006, 02:27 PM Well that was a eventfull Australian Grand Prix, plenty of crashes, and a few safety cars, and dear me, poor Button, started on poll and his engine blew up on the final corner and finished in 10th, lol.
I would not like to be poor old Ross Braun today. Fancy both Ferriaris causing the safety car to come out two seperate incidents
SpiderPete 17-04-2006, 01:43 PM I read in the News of the World from yesterday that Schumacher has signed a new 2 yr deal worth a staggering £60m :o :o
He has been offered a two year extension - and a £5m a year pay rise to his current £25m a year.
Is it me or is that just a ridiculous amount of money..........
ourjs 22-04-2006, 06:38 PM So happy Schumi has pole.............
SpiderPete 24-04-2006, 10:23 PM So happy Schumi has pole.............
Yes, and didn`t he do well, a very good 2nd pit-stop out fooled Renault, who did the wrong thing, and on one of the most boring tracks there was no way Alsono was gonna pass him.
Button ........ oh dear what was he doing in the pit-stop.....:hihi:
vidster 25-04-2006, 05:15 AM Button ........ oh dear what was he doing in the pit-stop.....:hihi:
His job?
Not Button's fault at all IMO.
SpiderPete 07-05-2006, 03:46 PM Well Schumacher looks back now, nowt Alonso could do today, and nice to see Massa and Hakki right behind Alonso..........
Cliff Clavin 07-05-2006, 11:29 PM And yet again Schmacher hasn't won another Grand Prix without aid of his team mate. Imola this year Massa slowed Alonso up for enough laps during first stint (even though making yourself a mobile roadbock and team orders are banned Ferrari still get away with it.) Today Massa makes a much better start than Schumi and would've gotten past him on the first corner had he not backed off (again doing the team job).
Now don't get me wrong I admire the fact that Schumi was and is still a great driver but his whole career is a sham apart from the records which in years time and now to some speak for themselves but he can never been admired by most F1 fans outside Germany and Italy because he's never had to beat his partner, Schumi has it written in his contract that his partner must give in to him (Willi Webber is a great manager no-doubt). Take the crazy seaon of 2004 the car was so great they never had to push and he easily took the title now Schumi is a better driver than Barrichello and would've won anyway but they made sure Barrichello let Schumi win even when he shouldn't, result dullest season ever nearly causing F1 to go under as fans switched off in their droves, Ross Brawn just saying "Well its up to them to catch us up!" Wrong!!! Ross let your drivers race would've been the answer. Take 88 and 89 the McClaren was as far ahead as Ferrari were of the other cars but those 2 seasons were absolute classics as Senna and Prost raced head to head neither giving a rev.
Johnny Herbert said the first time he was quicker than Schummi was to be the last. Following the incident he wasn't allowed to use his own set-up and could not view Schummi's data yet Schummi could view Johnny's.
Schummi's whole career has been dogged by incidents which shows him as a cheat or a poor loser. Even his 1st title was shrouded with a black cloud. He had so many devices still attached to his car software that he got a 3 race ban and who knows if these devices weren't there then Senna may not have had to push the Williams beyond its limits and may still be alive today???
Then there's last dash effort of ramming your rival off the track although Senna and Prost did this to eachother there was a difference with them it was neither was giving up the corner. With Schummi it was a realisation was going to be overtook so he just wacked them!!! It worked once but not twice.
At the beginning of the season I probably would have voted for Renault (Alonso) to win. But after the first few races Ferrari are looking better and better so I voted Ferrari for the Championship.
I like the new qualifying except for the final pole position qualifying session where they have to start with race fuel. It's daft with them all driving round to use up their fuel and is a bit of an anti-climax after the first 2 sessions.
SpiderPete 14-05-2006, 12:52 PM I see its Alonso --> Fizzi (cannot spell his name lol) --> Shumi --> Massa on the grid, should be fun............ 8 mins to go.
I see they must have fueled Hakki heavy again, he didn`t do well, and Button in 8th.....
SpiderPete 31-07-2006, 01:47 PM Well yet another Schumacher win, I get the feeling he is gonna win this year.
happyhippy 01-08-2006, 03:49 PM Yeah, looks like Ferrari have their reliability back, and the tyres were a decisive factor on Sunday. Mind you, as a Minardi (Toro Rosso is just SOOO wrong) fan I'm just gazing from a long, long, long way away .......
