I set up my wireless network... not knowing anything about them.
I used the defualt wiress network on one computer and flash drived the settings to the other. Both... in theory are now on the same network with exactly the same details.
But... low and behold, neither computer finds a thing.
Any ideas?
Both are running xp home
Are you trying an "ad hoc" connection between 2 PCs, or do you have a proper wireless modem/router which you are trying to connect all the PCs through?

ad-hoc will do.
I have 2 Pcs, one stationary that has the internet and another that needs to use the internet wirelessly from it.
One computer has a wireless network card. Thats the one thats stationary, the other has a wireless network router. I am not sure if they are differnt or not.
One is a rock direct quaddra dts 7600, and the other is a rock quaddra t64.
Cheers
No need to go ad-hoc if you have a router. The internet connection should go into the router, if you're on ADSL you'll need to set up the router with your connection details, if you're on cable, the network cable from the modem should go into the router.
One PC is then connected via ethernet cable to the router, the other uses wireless. Again, you'll need to set up the router. They should both then be able to access the internet.
Usually typing something like 192.168.1.1 into Explorer's location bar gets you into your router's settings page but that number may vary by make.

bugger. The one with the router is the one i need mobile. Is it not possible to have a regular internet adsl, usb on the other computer and pick up the internet via a wireless connection?
So i have the DTS(stationary) with a usb adsl connection and i have the Mobile T64 that i need to pick up some kind of internet on. Both machines have a wireless network card, but can't find each other.

I have just had the exact same problem, got my f
riend in to have a look and he said the drivers on my laptop were over a year out of date, even though my laptop is new!!
he just downloaded them on my pc and put them o my laptop......works fine now
Oh if you have a wireless network card in both then you can connect to the router wirelessly from both, though you may need to connect a wire to it to set it up initially.
The key thing is that the internet goes to the router not one of the PCs, it's much better than having it go to one PC and sharing it with the other.

I have to let it go to the computer, as i only have a wireless router inside the machine i need mobile.
So i need to share the connection, once i can get the two pc's to find each other, which is what i can't do!!!
If it's inside the machine it isn't a router.
Do you know the make / model of your wireless equipment?
I've got a lappy with a belkin 802.11g card (125mips 2.4ghz) and a Blueblunder cable connection, has anyone got any recomendations has to which router I should buy
