if a strange dog is on my property (crapping) and my dog is in the garden and gets hold of this dog would the ploice get involved or is just like if a dog gets hold of a cat in the garden?

if you ask the police about it, they'll probably tell you which book they could throw at you, but if you read about past cases, you'll generally find they're not interested in ANY dog on dog attacks, especially if it's not 'in a public place'

you really can't blame a dog for crapping in your garden they don't know any better. i would scoop it up an take it back to the owner.

I don't think it would be a police matter, still doesn't make it ok to allow your dog to attack it.

You need to secure your garden and try and find out where the dog is coming from, and have a word with the owners.

The dog could be lost its owners could be out on the streets searching for it,maybe even someone from sf ,they wouldnt be very pleased if you let it get hurt on purpose.
Of course if you know where the dog comes from and it keeps happening go and speak to the owners.

I took some dog poo round to the owners of a dog that dumped it on my garden, they was a little shocked when they opened the door and I was stood there with a shovel full of poo for them, their dog didn't poo in my garden after that.:)

on my front garden? Is your fenced off? Why should I have to fence it off for other people who cant control their dogs? I would never dream of letting my dog attack another dog ( he wouldn't want to anyway) I was just curious on the laws. If I do catch the person letting their dog crap on my property i will be wiping it in the owners face.

yes mine is fenced off,and it was you who said about your dog getting hold of another dog ,there are lots of people who let there dogs muck where they shouldnt,outside my gate :rant:but i do try ,to see who is doing it ,and i would tell them (if i had time to stand there ,but i dont ,)good look hope you catch them .
