Agent Gypo 05-03-2006, 05:55 PM I've never lived in any of them but I had a look around some places in Leadmill Court and West One when I was looking for a flat last year.
I thought they were small, overpriced and you could blatantly hear everything from the neighbours.
xbecx 06-03-2006, 08:26 PM I live at West One and love it! I find it surprisingly quiet and dont hear much from the neighbours! The main thing I can hear is people walking down the corridor to their own apartment.
I have got quite a large apartment and whether you think it's over priced probably depends on what you can afford! From contacts working in the Property Business, I seem to have got a good deal, so am happy!
There are loads of threads about city centre living on here - give it a search!
Cheers!
I lived in Ject Centro... i had mixed feelings...not bad, great for getting to the train station and town etc everything is gorgeouse and new... the noise thing within the building was a bit irritating as you could hear TV's, music etc through my door and conversations as you walk down the halls... also make sure if you have a car that it goes in the carpark as car crime is high!
Was expensive for the space you get but loads of fun! oh and in the summer its nice but the room get hot but if your happy to have the main road traffic noise which is loud when the windows are open... then its fine... it never bothered me...
Tom the concierge was lovely and was really helpfull too!
Good luck
richieboy 18-03-2006, 10:41 PM I live in Leadmill Court and it's great. If you want to live in the city centre these flats are spot on. Maybe I'm lucky and biased, but I rarley here noise from neighbours (something I was worried about) and have never been woken up by them, and I think you get more space for less money in Leadmill Court than Jet Centro and West One. And the kitchens are better.
:)
NickM 19-03-2006, 06:13 PM If you don't mind being just slightly out of the town centre, check out Queens Tower as well - http://www.blundells.co.uk/queen_tower.html
It's still within walking distance of town and the right next to the tram.
I looked at West One, Leadmill Court et al when I was flat hunting last year and I didn't think that any of them compared really! Like others, I'm biased though!
we've got great views over the city and the rent is comparable to the other places

MrSkinner 20-03-2006, 04:52 PM Just moved to west one and have to say it really is excellent. very spacious and ultra modern it certainly gets the thumbs up from me.
stormhenry 26-03-2006, 09:36 AM Why not try Mazda Buildings - very high spec and well finished. I live there at the moment (although my flat is on the market with Saxton Mee) and love it. The location is second to none!!
rach123 29-03-2006, 03:58 PM Hi,
I rent a flat in west one and i really would not recomend it! I expected the building to be maintained to a high standard due to how expensive my rent is. However, the lift has been broken for 4 weeks and this means that drunk people are taking the stairs on a fri and sat night. Last weekend 3 strip lights were smashed and someone was sick all over the 2nd floor stairs. But the really annoying things is that reception just dont seem to care. They told me they couldnt get a cleaner in for 3 days! So i was stepping over someone else's sick for half a week. The stair way stank! And still does. :gag:
Most of the carpets are stained in the foyer from where people drag their rubbish bags from the lift and most of the walls are marked. Some people have even started to draw graffi on the walls with pencil around the lift area. The motion sensor that switches the lights on on the fourth floor has been hanging from the wall by its wires for months now. The girls in reception wont do anything to fix these problems.
When i first moved in there was a 10cm diameter hole in the plaster on the kitchen wall (which was hidden when i viewed the flat). After a lot of phone calls to reception they eventually sent a decorator out.
Im mostly annoyed because the management just dont seem to be bother in manintaining the building, i dont know where all our expensive rent money is going!
TheMoog 23-04-2006, 01:59 PM Just one word of warning about Jet Centro (where I currently live) and presumably some of the other city centre places - they do this 'forget the hotel room' thing where they use city centre flats as hotel rooms. This would be fine except that during evenings and weekends there is no one there to monitor the guests.
So... this morning we woke up to found poo smeared on the door handle to the stairwell and a cigarrette butt in the carpeted stairwell which had blatently just been left to burn there! Pretty worrying I think.
I would stress that the flats are really modern and stunning and that the consierge is great, but the hotel thing is a pain in the buttocks.

I'm not sure which part of west One this is but to put the record straight different buildings are run in different ways. Some of it is owned/run by Blundells and this is probably what this post refers to. I don't recognise anything that is said in this post. I let out a flat in west one and if there is any problem in the communal areas the concierge gets it sorted straight away. Anything wrong inside the flats are sorted by the owners obviously. The reception that is mentioned is nothing to do with the private flats. My tenants have asked if they can rent the flat for another year so that must be a thumbs up for West One.
ultracynic 23-04-2006, 05:26 PM i think the bottom block over the car park entrance is rental only and is generally treated with maximum disrespect by the people living there temporarily.
the blocks nearer west street have alot more owner occupiers so don't have the problems associated with the bottom block.

yeah, that's pretty rank... I think it was treacle or something? I came in from work at half 5 in the morning to find the lift covered in the stuff, and a pile of something rank and a half chewed lollipop outside my door :/
less than impressed!

I'm pretty sure they've stopped forgetthehotel.com using flats in Roya Plaza, still a few idiots live there tho! If i was after a flat i'd be looking a queens Tower, its really nice up there.
HiFidelity 27-04-2006, 09:59 PM I've just moved down here myself and checked out the places you mentioned but noticed many possible problems which have already been highlighted. In the end I opted for the OneEleven apartments down by the Waitrose. It’s an old brewery conversion so you've got nice thick walls between you and the neighbours. The flats themselves are decent and the public areas well maintained. Worth checking out I think.
TheMoog 11-05-2006, 06:40 PM I have never heard of that OneEleven place... are the prices good?

I don't think that is true. The area is well lit and lots of people live there, have you actually been there at night?
PatzB 12-05-2006, 01:39 PM I said from what I understand!
My friend lived not far from there and has seen blood around waitrose cash point on more than one occasion, I have also heard of people being attacked in the underpass.

The apartments do look lovely but there is a council estate right opposite
