If you're thinking of Cooks Wood road then it is pretty decent. I'm from Shirecliffe and my mum and dad still live there and they never have any trouble.

Yes it is a bit 'rough' but I know there are an awful lot of decent people live there too...

I lived on boyton road then standish road, and to be honest in all the years i lived on these roads i never had a problem with anyone. I found everyone freindly it was them kinds of road that everyone knew everyone but kept out of other people busness. I still got freinds that live in this area on differnt roads even the one's that class as rough but i never seen nothing, and when i go to visit i have no fear of walking home alone in the dark. Ok you get the odd gang on the local shops but not one time ever have they bother me or my friends. it is a very quiet area, you do get the odd mini motobike razzing up and down some times or a couple rowing but what area dont. I never had a problem with this area and never will.

Its easy to score a joint or harder on the estate at the top of the hill.

Its no worse than any of the surrounding estates.

it's a great place, great smells from the tip, toxic air all around oh, i nearly forgot it's also got the timbertop public toilet, i mean house great place to make friends if you don't like it in there then try the five arches, thats even better.

Shirecliffe is no rougher than any other council estate, been brought up there all my life and never had any trouble. Loads of money is being invested in the area at the moment to make it an up and coming area at the end of the day you have good and bad no matter where you live

Houses are cheaper in certain areas for a reason.

I'm not getting into a discussion about where is better! They are both as rough as each other end of! You cant get a perfect area to live anymore!

i drink in there sometimes but went down hill recently. new land lady took over wednesday. so think the old customers will flock back. top people and mostly blade fans (so thats got to be a plus) took 2 coaches from there 3 year back to cardiff play off top day out apart from result (as usual).

all in all in mho a top boozer when its kickin but not for the easilly offended.

I live around the corner from shirecliffe and to be honest as long as you don't upset the wrong people and lock your car up really really well (and then that doesn't always work) you'd be fine, I can think of much worse!! It is no worse or better than any other area in Sheffield!
