ZEDEX48K 03-03-2006, 06:31 PM So where in Sheffield serves the best pint of the black stuff??, I have still to find it :o(............. muddycoffee 03-03-2006, 07:11 PM Dog and partridge, without question. Guinness always tastes best in places where lots of it is drunk. I have come to the conclusion that draught guinness has a short shelf life, and where they don't sell much of it, it either settles out a bit or goes off a little. In a pub where half the patrons are drinking guinness it will always be good, but in a place where most drink lager and hardly any is sold it can taste "earthy" Miffed 03-03-2006, 07:57 PM Yes I agree the Dog & Partridge Weeowen 04-03-2006, 12:41 AM Yep.it has got to be the D&P.A genuine Irish pub and not a pastiche dreamed up my a marketing guru in a far off office.Try a doorstep sandwich while you're there. surfinjim 04-03-2006, 03:35 AM D & P by a country mile. Can't really see the smoking ban taking off there, can anyone else..... Jim:thumbsup: Ousetunes 04-03-2006, 11:42 AM IMO Fagan's on Broad Lane serves an absolute beauty of a pint of Guinness. Litha 04-03-2006, 11:48 AM ohh im so glad i found this thread, i havent had a decent pint of guinness in sheffield since O'neills at broomhill shut down, it was that place that got me addicted to it :hihi: the worst ive had was in the feathers on POW that was totally unsupable :gag: surfinjim 04-03-2006, 11:31 PM Best Guiness I ever had was funnily enough in Dublin. However, after 36 hours solid on the stuff, we had to resort to putting a Jameson's and blackcurrant into the pints to revive the tastebuds! (Big jessie's I know!!!!) Jim:thumbsup: Litha 04-03-2006, 11:33 PM ive never been to ireland but would love to taste their guinness just to see what im missing :D the_rudeboy 04-03-2006, 11:40 PM ive never been to ireland but would love to taste their guinness just to see what im missing :D Its not that different TBH. A more consistent pint but not really any different from a good pint over here. And yes, D & P does the best guinness in Sheffield. panda79 05-03-2006, 12:16 AM IMO Fagan's on Broad Lane serves an absolute beauty of a pint of Guinness. and the landlord looks like john cleese got to be the d@p for me tho muddycoffee 05-03-2006, 12:42 AM IMO Fagan's on Broad Lane serves an absolute beauty of a pint of Guinness. Yes their guinness is good too, but the best thing about Fagans is the welcome I get when I go in. They treat me like a minor celebrity and my mates as trusted hangers-on. How lucky I am to live in a wonderful city as this.. EdnaKrabappe 05-03-2006, 06:46 PM Dog and partridge. Mm guiness:) coyote13 05-03-2006, 07:17 PM Since it's only a three minute walk between the two pubs, it's easy enough to check out both. I prefer Fagins' Guiness except of quiz night! Hedgehunter 05-03-2006, 07:45 PM Best in Sheffield is definitely in the dog. Have had some good ones mind :) banjopaul99 05-03-2006, 08:29 PM Dog and partridge definatley is top class guinness, the new irish centre the alexandra has fine guinness as most people drink it there , the alexandra also has the best free duke box in the city for irish music. banjopaul99 05-03-2006, 08:29 PM And the alexandra does a fantastic evening meal at a very resonable price. Paul is my name playing irish music is my game. You are viewing an archive. To view the actual thread click here: Sheffield Forum | |
