I would say probably the best in Hillsborough.

I've been having pork sandwiches from Funk's since I was a kid, and I think it's just one of the best shops ever. I love proper old fashioned pork shops, where everything's fresh and home-made. My girlfriend's from Lancashire, and she'd never heard of a pork shop until I started eulogising about Funk's. Come to think of it, I've never seen a pork shop outside Sheffield. Could it possibly be unique to Sheffield? GrahamY 04-03-2006, 14:57 I can't have pork sandwiches with what I've got. MumphitMan 05-03-2006, 20:56 butchers on shorrowvale road, very good indeed. RegularJohn 05-03-2006, 21:00 Iv just moved up from lancashire and theres no pork shops there! I may have to go investigate this further! Al 'T' Man 06-03-2006, 13:18 Shaun's in banenr cross are the best around... give em a try Al 'T' Man 06-03-2006, 13:19 that was supposed to be 'Banner Cross' sorry! GabbleRatcht 06-03-2006, 14:21 I think 'Pork Shops' are pretty unique to Sheffield. Got my Scottish mate converted when he came down! Think Sandwich on Abbey Lane is really good, but as an ex Hillsborough lad, Funks for sausages, Biltons for sandwiches! Crayfish 06-03-2006, 17:06 Funk's are a tad cheaper than biltons and seem to be more scratching oriented giving them a nice crunch if you like that sort of thing, but a good kingsize sandwich from biltons is just a tad more gratuitously meat-laden and pips Funk's offering at the post imo kitchew 06-03-2006, 23:32 Noooo what about Bere's? Theirs are so nice!!! RoyalRegular 07-03-2006, 09:16 I can't have pork sandwiches with what I've got. .....and what have you got Graham, apart from no pork sandwich? GrahamY 07-03-2006, 09:19 I have got 16p. NEKRO138 07-03-2006, 11:54 I like Bere's best. BUT Funk's SMALL sausage rolls are the best. Ever. Get SMALL not LARGE, they're better. ValleyBoy 07-03-2006, 12:36 Pork Shops are all over Hillsborough ,i always wondered why Wednesday were called the pigs now i know. Nimrod 07-03-2006, 23:53 Funks should advertise in The Jewish Chronicle and put an ad on Al Jazeera TV. Those guys dont know what they are missing. ;) ValleyBoy 08-03-2006, 11:11 Their are lots of other so called sins, religious people would enjoy if the tried them [come on girls show your blert boxes] scout 09-03-2006, 18:26 Bere's are definately the best!! Waxsyd 16-04-2006, 16:07 Hey new sarnie shop at Woodseats called 'Joint'. Worth a try, I had top roast beef sarnie & they also sell roast pork and chicken. By far, try the factory for the best ones... on Herries Rd Bambi_ 18-04-2006, 15:00 Bere's are the best in Hillsborough. By far, try the factory for the best ones... on Herries Rd Bere's are auful, I can't put my finger on wat it is about then I don't like but I just can't stand em:gag: Biltons anyday!! GrahamY 18-04-2006, 15:13 djscottk - not a good idea to give your email address in a forum, it will get harvested for spam. sazk23 18-04-2006, 15:47 OMG why did i look at this Thread? my mouth is watering at the thought of a pork sandwich. I haven't tried Funks, but i will now thanks, im same as Bambi tho, i didn't know where it was. But  for that, ill have to sample their pork sandwiches now. Bere nice but Biltons are a lot nicer:) GrahamY 19-04-2006, 09:03 I make my own pork sandwiches, using a fresh breadmaker loaf made with strong white flour from The Flour Bin http://www.flourbin.com/index2.htm slimsid2000 19-04-2006, 13:21 I like funks because they dip their breadcakes in brine as well as cook their pork in it. It is a lovely pink colour as opposed to a rather bland grey which pork can be. It tastes 100 times better. Also crammed with loads of stuffing and crackling. mmmmmm...yum yum |
