Who else thinks these are some of the nicest pork sandwhiches around?

I would say probably the best in Hillsborough.

Funk's is the best in Hillsborough I reckon. I've been having pork sandwiches from Funk's since I was a kid, and I think it's just one of the best shops ever.

I love proper old fashioned pork shops, where everything's fresh and home-made. My girlfriend's from Lancashire, and she'd never heard of a pork shop until I started eulogising about Funk's. Come to think of it, I've never seen a pork shop outside Sheffield. Could it possibly be unique to Sheffield?

I think 'Pork Shops' are pretty unique to Sheffield.

Got my Scottish mate converted when he came down!

Think Sandwich on Abbey Lane is really good, but as an ex Hillsborough lad, Funks for sausages, Biltons for sandwiches!

Funk's are a tad cheaper than biltons and seem to be more scratching oriented giving them a nice crunch if you like that sort of thing, but a good kingsize sandwich from biltons is just a tad more gratuitously meat-laden and pips Funk's offering at the post imo

I like Bere's best. BUT Funk's SMALL sausage rolls are the best. Ever. Get SMALL not LARGE, they're better.

djscottk - not a good idea to give your email address in a forum, it will get harvested for spam.

I make my own pork sandwiches, using a fresh breadmaker loaf made with strong white flour from The Flour Bin http://www.flourbin.com/index2.htm

I like funks because they dip their breadcakes in brine as well as cook their pork in it. It is a lovely pink colour as opposed to a rather bland grey which pork can be. It tastes 100 times better. Also crammed with loads of stuffing and crackling.

mmmmmm...yum yum
