hmm, I was bored and looked at how many threads SF has and noticed it was pretty high, so I thought I would look at how many listings the search engines have and it was a bit strange. There are

on this forum, yet when you enter site:sheffieldforum.com into the search engines, which for those of you who don't know is suppose to show pages only listed from this site, the results are a bit crappy.

Google (http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=site%3Asheffieldforum.com&btnG=Search&meta=) - 20,800 Results
MSN (http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q=site%3Asheffieldforum.com) - 1 Result
Yahoo (http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=site%3Asheffieldforum.com&ei=UTF-8) - 15 Results

I'm not sure who the owner of this sit is :| I possible should, but thats a bit crappy and can be improved through a number of ways. If you don't know of them, feel free to contact me.

That might be because it's sheffieldforum.co.uk....not ".com":P

Well, if we ever bothered to do Search Engine Optimisation, I'm sure we could improve it.

I've certainly spent time doing SEO, but really we don't currently bother that much about the SEO side of things. We seem to have a manageable growth of users, and we currently have other technical issues to sort out.

And, as Ann says, try putting sheffieldforum.co.uk in to Google and you get 32,000 odd hits. And if you know 'sheffieldforum.co.uk' then why aren''t you coming here straight away? :)

The owner of the site is Geoff, btw.

Does it really matter?

SF's popularity speaks for itself. If you type Sheffield Forum without quotation marks, it is top of the list of all the Sheffield Forums that exist.

I'm sure that, if Geoff felt there was a need to do more, then he would.
