I applaude Australia for its common sense approach, commit a crime and you are no longer welcome to enjoy our country's liberties, off you go back to your motherland.
If it wasn't for all the euro claptrap we could perhaps adopt a similar approach.

I couldn't agree more, the immigration rules for this country need to be burned and re-written. Tougher rules regarding criminal offences are at the top of the list of what to change, if not out of common sense then at least for the safety of the public.

Perhaps you're unaware that we do have a similar approach?

"Between 2007 and 2010, a total of 20,360 foreign national prisoners were deported from the UK. In 2010, 5,235 foreign national prisoners were deported. More than 2,500 (49 per cent) of these left the UK under a Facilitated Returns Scheme, which provided a cost-effective method of deportation.

Greater emphasis had been placed on this scheme by the Agency with 19 per cent more foreign national prisoners deported than in 2009. A proportion of these people had been deported prior to the end of their custodial sentence under an Early Removal Scheme with consequent reduction in the cost of detention"

Facilitated Returns Scheme, is that where we bribe them with money to leave voluntarily, for them only to return months later?

BTW how you doing BF? Not seen you treading these boards for a while. Hope you're keeping well.

I've no idea scuba, but the fact remains that provision exists in law for foreign criminals to be deported to their countries of origin which the OP appeared to be unaware of.

Presumably Cunliffe the subject of the Australian deportation order, could return to Australia under a new identity following his deportation.
