Sad to say, but I'm contemplating becoming a commuter. Fairly unreconcilable differences between my partners place of work (east Leeds) and mine (Sheffield Uni) means it looks like we're going to try a 'living half way' option, hopefully just for a year or so. Likely area is Holmfirth-ish.

The whole idea of commuting, especially by car, is fairly horrific to me, and I want to avoid the sitting in traffic jam situation as far as possible. I'm thinking of driving in (would either be A616 via Langsett or the A629 via Thurgoland) and then using the Middlewood tram park and ride. Does anyone do a route like this, and have suggestions/ problems/ thoughts on either the car bit, tram bit or both?
