 So, I've been looking through the 'Moving to Sheffield' Forum and ended up more confused than I started :help:

We are looking to move and so far have only checked things out on various estate agent's websites along with taking advice from colleagues as to the areas to avoid. We have taken a drive around some of the areas that we think we can afford a reasonable house in and I got an OK feeling about the area around the centre of Firth Park (around the park itself)

But reading some of the comments on this forum (I'm a new boy by the way) I keep seeing Firth Park being referred to as 'an estate to avoid' along with Shiregreen and The Manor.

Is Firth Park split into two different areas or have I just got the wrong impression about the place?

It would be really useful to get other people's feelings about the matter, especially anyone living in the area.

I have worked in (postman) and have friends that live on the flower estate which is very near the park. The advice that I was given by them is that the area is not the best to live in. As I have worked there in the day I can only comment on the appearence of the area which looked rather neglected and in need of a good clean up.

Thanks folks, I'm going to take another look around as the properties look like they deserve a second chance.

We lived at Firth Park (latterly just my folks and bro) for 17 years, right across from the park, and it was fine. Sadly I think they've let the shopping area decline and the new one-way system is a total cock-up but like every area it has it's good and bad points.

i moved to firth park a while ago, as like you i was new to the area and had got a good feel for the place. i absolutely love it. the people are friendly and accepting, the area is very mixed which i love and it's a lovely atmosphere. i wouldn't want to live anywhere else.
