Wondered if anyone knew of any other options here.

Looking at going to Leeds next Saturday night, and ideally want to stay till about 2/3am

Last train is before 11. Have looked at National express and they run a coach at 12:35am, which is a possibility.

Anyone any other ideas? Not enough of us for a taxi/minibus, and don't want to drive.

That late coach may be an airport bus; make sure you book on it if you're going to use it.

The only other option is designated driver....

Might be worth considering a taxi...I once paid 35 quid from Derby to Sheffield, so I'd check.

Alternatively, REALLY make a night of it and get the first train back the next day!

for the money it would cost you to get back to sheffield in the small hours- is it worth booking into a cheap hotel?

im sure travel lodge/ibis etc must have something thats suitable and then you would be able to either drive or get the traain home on the sunday.

have a great night what ever you decide.

I've used that coach - it's the only way home at that time that I could find (eg after a gig or missing the train). Behave yourself though or they won't let you on the bus (and you wouldn't want to miss it!). I don't think there are any other public transport options later than that. It's a London coach I think - you can print your ticket from the Nat Express website. First one Sun morning (proper) is 0625.

If you fancied a truly hairbrained scheme, you could catch the 0312 train to Manchester (Arr 0410). First train Mcr-Sheff on Sunday is about 0745 I think, so you could find somewhere open late in Mcr for 3 hours or so (eg a restaurant/late bar). Or maybe there's an earlier coach connection from there?

So other than that you are looking at hotels or taxis. Travelodge (and similar)will let you have several people in a 'family room' (within reason) I think. Or cheapo guest houses perhaps. Search for a few hotels and then ring them up. Many have rooms that would otherwise be empty so could be a deal to be had for sharers.

Thanks for the replies.

Whilst I'd love to stay over, in the last 3 weeks I've had weekends away with the lads in Manchester & Southampton, and I daren't even ask the question to my wife! I think she'd just kill me!

So its travel back I'm afraid

Bilge - does that coach get busy?

I go to leeds for nights out often, infact im going next friday, its just as easy to get the train up, grap a hotel, then get the first train back, taxi's cost a fortune to get back!you can get a room at the very nice Novatel or Bewleys Hotel for around £50, depending on how many peoples going, i could work out cheaper!

Not been too bad when I've been on it. But I'd def get tickets sorted beforehand just so you know you've got a seat and can relax.

Make sure you're alert when it arrives though as there may not be any announcement and there's the usual semi-chaos as you're not sure which bus is yours and people are standing about all over the place etc.
