Anyone have any suggestions for places to buy good quality, cheap second hand furniture?

I'm after a solid pine double bed frame and a dining set.

There's the Discount Furniture Centre on Abbeydale Road, just past the car wash that used to be a petrol station on the right (if you're heading out of town), before the row of shops where Sharps is - they have lots of stuff.

If you come up London road and then on to Abbeydale road you'll see there are quite a lot of second hand furniture shops.
I'd look in the St. Lukes hospice shops firstly though as they often have nice furniture in and are reasonably priced. These can be found at Crookes, Woodseats Ecclesall roadand on Abbeydale road near the junction with Bannerdale road.
There is also the big Oxfam at broomhill or the Quit charity shop near the bottom of the Moor.
