View Full Version : Blades ground 2010
Take a look as this
exclusive picture of what
GallonofMagnet.co.uk
envisages Bramall Lane
developing into over the
next few years!
This amazing image has
been created to show all
Blades fans just what could
be coming to S2. Building
work has begun on the
new corner stand, situated
between the south stand
and the away end, after
planning permission was
granted by the City Council. The Club have also been given the all-clear to build a multi-story Hotel in the car park, running parallel with Bramall Lane. Chairman Kevin McCabe has spoken of plans to build a top-tier above the existing Kop to increase the total capacity of the ground to around 36,000.

matt1889 01-03-2006, 08:53 It looks well good!
Cant wait to see the completed final thing, especially if the second tier gets built on the Kop!....
I mean even the new corner is starting to look impressive from both inside and outside the ground, and what can I say........Long time overdue??????
I still wanna see a nice big new colour scoreboard in that corner though?
Matt
RunningFree 01-03-2006, 09:54 BTW they are planning to dosome work on the cop. It was meant to be shut december last year. they are going to be taking it all the way back to shorham street taking over the car park. It was set to create about 6 or 7 thousand more seats.

Is it just me or has TAZZ allready said this??????.......And does the picture on the url not show an upper tier on The Kop?
Matt
It does look good however is it necessary? Lets face it they don't sell out very often at the min so why all the extensions?
RunningFree 01-03-2006, 12:43 There was no mention in an upper tier> ther are just planning on taking it staright back.
averageman 01-03-2006, 15:28 The Kop end of Bramall Lane in this picture is just one of the ends of Old Trafford, I doubt it will actually look like that when it is done.
That look's very impressive & just what the fans deserve.
Vrsaljko 01-03-2006, 16:23 It looks awesome. :D
I wonder where the season ticket holders on the kop will go if this new tier gets built?
Robbie Loving 01-03-2006, 17:57 The Kop end of Bramall Lane in this picture is just one of the ends of Old Trafford, I doubt it will actually look like that when it is done.
i thought it looked like OT, if you look carefully though the original kop seats have just been plastered over.
yes matt it is true a 2 tier kop is in the pipeline and has been for some time.
if it all happens the ground will look amazing.
as for not getting a sell out already from whoever said that, wait till next season
And of course the ground will need that many seats!!!!
fnkysknky 01-03-2006, 18:44 Saw that image a while ago now - someone posted it on bladesunited or similar - does indeed look the mutts even though I'm aware it's nicked from Old Trafford.
Lets face it, we're a club on the up and it feels good :D
What will the ground look like if you don't get promoted this season, change manager, clear out a few players and drift back into lower league football. Will it be something similar to Heeley City Farm?
carcrash 02-03-2006, 03:37 Will it be something similar to Heeley City Farm?
Don't ****ing knock Heeley City Farm. They do a ****load of good stuff for this city and get recognised around the world for it.

but we will be promoted
RobWilson 02-03-2006, 10:11 Does anyone know if they'll be getting rid of the stanchions in the Bramall Lane stand?
The new corner stand looks great, and presumably will have a cantilever roof like the Global Windows Stand.
However, if they don't re-do the Bramall Lane Stand roof whilst they're building the new corner stand then I don't think it would ever get done. Otherwise, it's the best stand in the ground in terms of a view (as the recent nationwide survey suggests)

Yes they are getting rid of them and they are also extending it forward slightly so that it covers the lower tier.
OwlsChick 02-03-2006, 15:12 Extending it for what???

lindsay, surely you realise with success brings more fans, ie when we get promoted we shall have a bigger audience to play to.
im gonna give you wigan for example,
bout 4 years ago they barely could get 4,000 fans in there ground, but now they sell out every other week.

Yes if they sit on the ROOF at Bramall Lane.

oh and does ne1 know if they are startin a fresh cos the kop was just a rush job in 90's if i remember right they just covered old terrace wi concrete FTO's and UTB's
Don't ****ing knock Heeley City Farm. They do a ****load of good stuff for this city and get recognised around the world for it.
How is it recognised around the world? It's just a city farm.It may not have been fair to use it in the context i did but it was only a joke.
all i can say is
the blades are on the way up in more ways than one
and because we can aford it

It will still look a whole lot better than the rotting sty in S6 :hihi:
Just wondering what swillsborough will look like if Millwall get one more win than you lot before the seasons over. :help:
boboskins 05-03-2006, 13:35 Canadablade such an easy catch. Cast one out there and you get a bite everytime :hihi: Tha must have got some hunchback with those piles of chips on both your shoulders!
Looks good if it happens as long as we've got one stadium in Sheffield capable of putting on Semi-Finals/Euro Cup/World Cup matches then i'm all for it. Oh wait we already have :)
Of course it'll never happen though due to the conspiracy unveiled by valleyboy on another thread http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=89780&page=10
Seriously though the Blades are in a great position at the moment and now is probably the best time to get all these improvements done then the ground should be fit for another 20 or so years which means you can concentrate more on squad improvements over those years.
Agent Gypo 05-03-2006, 14:50 I may be a lone (Blade) voice here, but I don't think the ground looks that impressive and not a million miles away from what we have already.
matt1889 06-03-2006, 11:01 ON YER OWN, ON YER OWN, ON YER OWN.......ON YER OWN, ON YER OWN, ON YER OWN.........ON YER OWN, ON YER OWN, ON YER OWN..... ON YER OWM.........
Why do all have fans allways have to take a negative approach, It will look amazing, and lets be fair, be last few years improvements have turned our ground into a palace compared to the sh*t-hole it was before!
Matt
Agent Gypo 06-03-2006, 11:32 I'm not trying to be negative. If it was worthy of praise I'd dish it out, but I don't think it's anything special to look at.
Football stadiums rarely are.
It will still look a whole lot better than the rotting sty in S6 :hihi:
Just wondering what swillsborough will look like if Millwall get one more win than you lot before the seasons over. :help:Get yourself over here Canadablunt and have a look at Hillsborough. It's still a magnificent stadia.
As for this season whatever happens Hillsborough will still look the same.A lick of paint on the away end is all that's needed.

if you actually believe the drivel that your spurting perhaps you need to get your eyes checked.
your kop is a disaster waiting to happen, the corner stand looks like it will fall, and the away stand is an atrocity.
the north stand will soon collapse too
i was out with the new kops architect 2 weeks ago- demolition starts at the end of next season on the kop- they are complearly knocking it down and biulding something similar to what leeds currently have, it will hold about 15,000.
And im telling the complete truth!!!
Did you know that the corner stand is costing £5mill!! and its already been paid for by mcabe!!!
Agent Gypo 07-03-2006, 13:31 What's the capacity of the Kop now?

If you think he's talking drivel i suggest you read back what you've written. I admit Hillsborough is looking a bit tired but to say things like the kop is a disaster waiting to happen and all we'll be left with is the South Stand because it's all gonna collapse is utter crap and you know it. Prove me wrong with your expertise and i'll shut up otherwise stop talking so much rubbish.
Anyway what are the recent improvements at the Lane been that have made it this now amazing stadium? A lick of red and white paint and some plastic seats, so in that case what he was saying about Hillsborough is perfectly valid.

lets see how weds built there kop, oh i know just chuck some seats in from the terraces.
the away end is awful (you ever sat there, cause i think you should)
and the north, well, with all that "if you dont bounce" crap, it may soon fall
TIMMMBBBEEEERRRRRR
as with united ground, the family enclosure is an excellent stand, the corner stand too. we are building another new corner stand, and the kop will be replaced with in 2 years. leaving us with 2 "old" stands, the south which is still a very nice stand even though build 30 years ago. and also our beloved away stand, in which a lot of blades would love to sit on there, the upper tier on our away stand is probably the best seats in any ground in our league

Grow up.

Oh well you'd never get that at the Lane would yer, fans creating some atmosphere. All the stands at the Lane are safe as houses in that respect. Although the low frequencys created by the fans grumbling and moaning at certain players might cause a few cracks in the foundations, i'd be worried about that if i was you. Could be as you'd say 'a disaster waiting to happen'
Agent Gypo 08-03-2006, 15:07 I've been going to Bramall Lane for years, as have most of my family, and been to grounds all over the country.
Under no circumstances would I decribe ANY part of Bramall Lane as excellent.
It's not bad, and it's better than quite a lot of the sheds I've been to in the league, but it's far from great. The planned improvements are welcome, but it's never going to be a top ground is it?
Hillsborough looks a mess and isn't exactly state of the art, but it's hardly an accident waiting to happen either.

If the condition of OUR ground is of such concern to you Robbie, then why do you go there as often as you do?Surely,if you believe that nonsense your spouting, your taking your life in your own hands everytime you visit?....

i sit on the south stand when i frequent to the sty.......
and i only go to about 3 owls games per season, and thats with my brother on day drinking sessions
as for agent gypo, why should our ground be a top ground?? what really is there to stop it being so? it cant be that bad if away fans have voted in to the top 3 from the league clubs can it now?

So,what your saying then is that you've no actual first hand experience of the kop or the North stand at all, other than having seen it from the away end/south stand?Wow Robbie, you must have some eyes to be able to make such telling assesments of the structural state of Hillsborough from such a distance..:hihi: :hihi: :hihi:

 Well,I figured thats what you would say.
Despite your, ahem "expert" appraisal of the structural condition of Hillsborough,Im sure when it comes to gaining the necessary safety certificates for the stadium,SWFC rely on someone rather better qualified for the job than an opinionated Blades fan with a chip on his shoulder and a point to prove:rolleyes:

I'm surprised it's been voted one of the best grounds, but that aside, football stadiums are hardly an architects wet dream. I've seen loads of buildings where where I've thought; "wow, that's incredible", but not one of them has been a football stadium.

football grounds are a totally different kettle of fish than a normal building though
jossyboy 10-03-2006, 07:18 yeah i agree i love the blades but bramall lane is by no means a brilliant ground all to roofing as at different heights and angles so it's always gonna look a mess. although that said improvments to the kop will be more than welcome especially if they get rid of those great big white poles that block the veiw of everything thets happening in the kopend corners.

yes the poles will be going cos they are totally ripping it all down!!!
Agent Gypo 10-03-2006, 16:06 Football grounds aren't very aethetically pleasing. There's real potential to make awesome structures, but sadly there aren't any.

the north stand will soon collapse tooIf my memory serves me right weren't the Wednesday band banned from the Brammall lane stand out of fear of the rhymic chanting causing the stand to collapse?
It may have been a load of crap but it was stated at the time by a Blades official.
I shouldn't have imagined that putting plastic seats in has made much differance.

yes it was stated that you are correct, but do you really think that is true? if it was that unsafe they wouldnt allow the porksters to sit on it :hihi:
i love the bramall lane end, and am so glad it is re-opened for the blades fans

Just making a point. To tell you the truth i was sat in that stand for that game and it does put a doubt into your mind, stupid i know.
I don't think it's better than the Leppings lane end though. The seats are closer to the pitch but it's not a good stand.

leppings lane is awful, ive fond memories of sitting there (leppings lane us beating ya) but it still really is an awful stand.
as for bramall lane stand, the upper tier is truly one of the best stands ive sat in
