Honey and a squish o lemon. Rolled up and folded into a handy bite-size sandwich type affair. To be stuffed, whole, in ones gob and chewed slowly. Happy grin guaranteed!

I've just done mine.
2 pancakes with homemade veggie chile and a mountain of cheese followed by homemade chocolate sauce with 70% lindt dark chocolate with crushed hazlenuts and whipped cream. Sort of like nutella with a more intense flavour.
I am now stuffed but contented and buzzing of the chocolate

Ive just had two with orange juice and sugar on, as usual. I put my grandson one out and knowing he wont eat anything liquid or runny I just put sugar on his. He ignored it. Then saw me put OJ on mine so asked for some blackcurrant on his. He is still ignoring it. I only made them for him, honest!

Has anyone ever tried stew on their pancakes?? We just had that, my family aren't really into the sweetness of sugar or chocolate. The only reason i ask is because my friends were having a right laugh at me on sunday

It's the same mix as yorkshire puddings so there is no reason that you cannot have stew with them so tell your friends to sod off.
There again I have been known to eat leftover yorkshire puds with jam on

Sugar and lemon for me.

But i muss confess to being lazy and buying some of those ready made pancakes. Think they'd be ok with a savoury option but they were rubbery rather than lovely. Plus I've now got 5 left in the packet and don't know what to do with them (Frisbee anyone?)

Wish I'd gone to me nans now! :(

oops! Sorry Jen. I hadn't actually read the first page so I didn't realise your predicament. I didn't know I was torturing you with the talk of my piping hot, crispy-edged, fluffy-middled circles of goodness topped with creamy old fashioned ice cream and finger-licking sticky sauce.

I say you send your fella out to buy eggs.

Be-gone Tartempion, with your circles of goodness! I cast ye out!

It appears that the serving of pancakes with sugar and orange juice is the most popular way of marking Shrove Tuesday for Sheffielders [and ex-pats like myself]. Here in darkest Lancashire, lemon juice and sugar are favoured instead. The silly asses don't know what they are missing, do they? Who needs syrup either?

Hope you enjoyed them, but try orange too- the true Sheffield way!
