If you're thinking about going to see this film....don't! It's another example of cheesy american teenage horror that isn't scary in the least and has one of crappest endings I've ever seen in a film. Also too many dodgy special effects and unbelieveable characters. :nono:
If you really want to see it wait until it's out on DVD. Don't waste your time and money. The original is much better. ;)

Agree it's not scary but it's not a bad film.
The original I found scarier but then I was a kid when I saw it.
Don't expect to see a horror movie, it's more of a thriller.
I quite liked the special effects to be honest, but it could have had more substance to it.
I thought the story was better than the original but it wasn't made to say a Wes Craven standard of horror.
Got it on DVD if anyone's interested ;)

I found it absolutely awful!! All the Tom Welling fans who can't understand why he wasn't cast as Superman in the film due out this year...go see this piece of rubbish and you will see that he can't act his way out of a paper bag!! Terrible cast, dreadful direction, and ropey effects - not forgetting a script that feels the need to explain everything, even the bits that you can work out yourself! One of the worst teen-horrors of recent years.
Maybe it is a conspiracy! John Carpenter produced it, and chose the director, cast etc. Perhaps he willingly made sure that it would be terrible, that way everyone would say how much better his original version was, and thus it would be the first time in 20 years that people have spoken about John Carpenter in a positive way!!

We went to the picture to day and nearly watched this but it had just started and I was a bit disapointed. Glad we went bowling instead now.
As remakes go..............I found it very good :)

Totally agree with you on this
The original Fog is my all time favourite horror film and this bastardised US remake is just a slap round the face to the original- the new one is not scary at all and its just cack!
Avoid at all costs everyone.

have to agree with this coment.
thought it was a pretty good remake & personally i understood the back story better in this version,(the blonde eye candy helped). edited - maggie Grace just looked her up.
surprisingly its still got Debra Hill on the credits for production - which may be why its so close to the original.
if u think this is bad go see date Movie - in fact don't go see Date Movie.

I made the mistake of seeing a double bill of Date Movie and The Fog. I am now undergoing counselling for the trauma inflicted on my mind!!
Date Movie = worse than Scary Movie. Yet it was still our busiest film this weekend - which goes to show a film doesn't have to be good to get people watching it.
best movie Luck Number Slevin - well acted by Mr Hartnett(which i haven't said before.

Not seen any previews for this yet but have heard it advertised on the radio a fair bit. Sounds funny so I might pop and see it. :)

Is this film made from the James Herbert book?
What a shame if it's crap (as you say) as I thought that was a fantastic book & would have loved to go see a (good) film adaptation of it.
Never mind! Thanks for saving me a fiver!
Ummm, I'm not sure. James Herbert did write a book called The Fog but it says it's about an earthquake in a small Wiltshire village and a strange fog emerges making the villagers go insane. Might not be the same story.
You're welcome about the fiver though.
its not the james herbert book - its a 70s film from mr carpenter & debra hill(halloween combo).it's not bad (mickey blue eyes) but its not saw/creep standard.
slevin is excellent - "an intelligent thriller".
