View Full Version : Do I need planning permission to cut down a tree? Tony 28-02-2006, 14:22 Not unless you are in a Conservation Area. msweatherwax 28-02-2006, 14:24 This depends mainly on two things. Firstly, do you live in a conservation area? Secondly, is there a tree preservation order on the tree? MorkandMindy 28-02-2006, 14:34 don't know? but i think this is maybee or is causing damage to my foundations???? msweatherwax 28-02-2006, 14:36 You are probably best contacting the council planning office for advice. MorkandMindy 28-02-2006, 15:34 contacted council there is no conservation order. only thing i had to say was i am thinking of planting another a bit further away. (not) thanks for all your help anyhows Mathom 28-02-2006, 17:27 I wouldn't bother cutting it down as it will be doing no damage whatsoever. I've got one right outside at even less distance away and the builder told me there was no way it would be causing damage as they have shallow roots. There's little I could do anyway as the council own it. ;) Having a decent little tree at the front of your house can even add a bit of value as it adds extra privacy and shade in summer, not to mention they look nice. Only worry if you have monstrous Leylandii. |
