I have just recently been reading the news paper and have noticed the price rises in the electricity market also a couple of days ago I had a letter stating our rent will be increasing and also council tax. So i have come to the conclusion that everything is going up apart from my WAGES, is anyone else noticing this???

Yep, and I reckon it will continue for a while yet - rising house values, rising energy costs (I can't see the price of oil/gas going down by much now, its going to be a gentle rise)...

True, very true! Everything that we have to pay out (council tax, utility bills, ect.) are all going up. Yet we aren't getting paid anymore! I can see that it is going to get to the situation where people cannot afford to pay all of these things especially if trying to manage a mortgage on top of all this! But which ones is the best not to pay? If you dont pay the mortgage the house gets reposessed! If you dont pay the utility bills you get cut-off! If you dont pay the council tax you get taken to court and inprisoned!! Arrrgghhhh where to turn!!

Totally agree Scott, it's the old and vulnerable people i feel sorry for especially in this cold weather. But some times you have to think about yourself and when i get paid and pay everything out i don't have much left to treat myself or my partner!!

'ONE' of the main reasons for this is basically that new generations aren't into 'saving' money anymore (i.e. putting wages into savings accounts and buying things when they can afford it). Most people these days get things on finance which basically means they're paying lots of little amounts. this shows/means that a much clearer picture has been made for the large companies on the nation's expendible income. They are starting to realise that they can put prices up and we can (for the most part) afford it. This is terrible news and it will get a lot worse before it gets any better (maybe a century or more?).

"It will get worse before it gets better" More like its just going to get worse. The more these companies are allowed to make billions in profits while hiking their prices exponentially the more companies will follow suit!

Gas is going up, Electricity is going up, Council Tax is going up, Oil is going up etc, etc!

The only real winners will be big business who have and will make a absolute fortune out of the average Joe on the street. And you wondered why these companies where happy to back Blair huh! Because they can get away with it in Blair’s Britain! Time to wake up don’t you think?

Energy costs will inevitably go up.
I'm not sure but someone was saying that a huge chunks of the council taxes go towards pensions (i.e. the pencions deficit) ?????

Anyhow I wonder how many of these increases are included in the official inflation figures ?

We'll see house prices crashing soon.

We'll see house prices crashing soon.

Just curious... what makes you say that?

I know the housing market has been booming for some time, but are there any indications that a crash is on the cards?
