I am familiar with some of the work of Bob Marley, and bands Like Culture. And lots of Ska originators P.Buster, Skalites, Ethiopians etc..

What I am looking for is the heaviest deepest Reggae sound or band that has ever been recorded.
By this I mean not a lightweight sound, a real big solid heavy feel.

I am interested in this because as a musician I want to study the elements of a really effective reggae sound which makes the most impact on the listener.

"White reggae" sounds which I find light and frivoulous, like UB40, The Eagles, Police, 10cc is what I want to avoid.

thanks.

Why not have a listen to the late Prince Far I. In particular, his splendid 'Dubwise' album. You may appreciate his deep, dark, heavy dub sound. Also, various albums by Scientist, King Tubby and [when the cove is not larking about] Lee Perry. Must dash orf, as Jah is wid me now, as they say in the ghetto.

Toodle Pip,
Timo
