Sheffield Forum were out done by 3 long range High Green strikes. Forum had to make more changes to the team as Tom Hunter came in for Ryan Lynch at right back and Nathan Jenkins returned from suspension and replaced Ashley Proctor at left back. Forum were left with just 2 substitutes for this game.
On a cold Sunday morning, the teams kicked off on a slightly hardened pitch which soon went soft under play. Sheffield Forum played the more direct game whilst High Green played it around a little more.
Forum had a glorious chance to take the lead, a free header by Ashley Matthews 6 yards out heading wide. It was High Green that too the lead about 20 minutes in, capitilising on dangerous play in defence. Unfortunately, shortly after Matthews had to come off and was replaced by Phillip Gill. Matthews had been a doubt all the way up to kick off and is struggling at the minute.
Sheffield Forum had a couple of chances, Kyle Dowling and Tom Gray both having chances and the game was pretty much end to end but High Green certainly having more possession.
HT: Sheffield Forum 0-1 High Green Rovers
2nd half carried on the same way but with news that Daniel Sheedy, Kyle Dowling and Tom Gray were all struggling with knocks and pains however all played on. Sheedy last about 10 more minutes before being replaced by Proctor meaning yet another move around in for the midfield. Meanwhile Dowling was struggling with his groin.
High Green scored a 2nd, the ball going across the edge of the area from the right was hit bang into the top corner of Smiths goal.
The decision was made to take Dowling off the pitch and finish the game with 10 players. Forum didnt look as though they would get back into the match and the move hopefully helps Dowling be fit for next Sunday.
High Green then hit 2 more spectacular goals, Adam Smith with no chance of getting the them. The right winger come inside and shot from well outside the area, both shots into the very top corner.
Forum had their own chances but struggled in link up play as Dowling struggled to run and then with 10 men left, only had 1 up front.
A game to forget but undone by the 3 long range efforts from High Green which really were super strikes.
